Job Description: The production planning and scheduling senior manager serves as a functional subject matter expert in the development of production schedules and alignment of MRP systems, and SIOP deployment for 20+ manufacturing sites. The production planning and scheduling senior manager oversees the coordination of production schedules and ensures smooth flow of parts and materials between departments, sites, and programs, and product families. They will develop and foster efficient and reliable manufacturing planning processes with support from the program, planning, e3, and supply chain groups. Their duties involve developing production scheduling processes and best practices, driving delivery performance, setting execution targets, and tracking performance to meet program goals. The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead diverse teams in complex tasks, development of process improvements, and creation of tools to enable our success.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the functional point of contact for the production planning and scheduling discipline
- Build the production planning and scheduling organization structure
- Develop, deploy, and maintain scheduling process and best practices for the different program types across SAS operations
- Establish training and documentation for the production planning and master scheduling roles that will be essential for successful implementation of optimized factory planning and SIOP processes
- Ensure alignment of production schedules with MRP systems
- De-conflict and optimize scheduling of shared areas and multi-program lines
- Be an active member in the deployment and sustainment of SIOP
- Ensure program demand is translated into predictable, production-centered schedules that allow the production team to be successful
- Prepare, develop, and coordinate the production master schedule and ensure integration with the MRP system and integrated master schedule to meet all program objectives
- Ensure major projects and program schedules and plans are horizontally and vertically integrated
- Track plans and schedules, perform risk analysis, identify, and resolve critical path and network logic conflicts
- Utilize Gantt, PERT, milestone charts, earned value management and other project management techniques to gauge progress and identify performance variances to facilitate focus and intervention on critical areas
Qualifications:
- Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across the function. Typically has mastery within a specific technical area or broad expertise across multiple related job areas. Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- 10+ Years experience of production scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment
- 4 + Years of experience leading a team, process, and/or projects
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with SIOP strategy creation and new implementation/deployment
- Experience in defense/aerospace
- Experience with Control and SAP MRP systems
- Active DoD Clearance
- Experience being an active user of MRP systems
- Familiar with MRP systems
- Experience with SIOP process and practices
- Experience using advanced planning tools (i.e. Kinaxis) for SIOP and scenario planning
