Job Description:
L3Haris MAS has carried out for over 30 years the repair, maintenance, and modernization of the Canadian fighter jets, the CF-18s. Thanks to our technical expertise developed over time and our passionate employees, L3 Technologies MAS has developed innovative and personalized solutions for the in-service support contracts of the Canadian government’s aircraft fleets such as the CH-148 Cyclone and CH-147F Chinook helicopters, and the CC-150 Polaris (Airbus 310) aircraft, as well as conducted engineering, repair and maintenance tasks on the F/A-18 Hornet fleets of different international clients.

Responsibilities:
The Ground Support Equipment Technician is responsible to provide In-Service Support of the CC330 Husky STTC Program (Strategic Tanker and Transport Capability) by performing tool control and maintaining Aircraft STE (Support and Test Equipment) in serviceable condition. This position involves all preventive and corrective maintenance on CC330 Mechanical & Electrical STE light and medium duty fleet vehicles and equipment including, but not limited to: aircraft tow tractor, maintenance vehicles, small cranes, large generators, forklifts, and aviation Ground Support Equipment(GSE) such as: heaters, air conditioners, ground power units, air stairs, tow bars and engine stands.
- Perform repair work on a variety of electric, gasoline and diesel powered equipment, and non-motorized GSE, air and hydraulic systems, ignition and electrical systems, computerized and electronic ignition systems;
- Perform periodic inspections of STE and submit reports to relevant parties;
- Ensure GSE and vehicles are fueled and ready to operate for flight operations;
- Test equipment for conformance to specifications under actual or simulated operating conditions;
- Record maintenance activities in RAMCO;
- Liaise with OEM technical support and Swissport in Ottawa for issues that are beyond technical manuals or related to warranty;
- Liaise with vendors and supply chain management for coordination of shipping and receiving equipment on-site;
- Prepare and inspect STE for deployments;
- Support flight operations with arrivals, departures, pushbacks and wing walking;
- Drive vehicle such as tow tractors, tracked cranes, forklift, and company truck;
- Perform scheduled cleaning of vehicles (exterior and interior);
- Participate to the 5S + 1 program;
- Contribute to the Continuous Improvement program;
- Support group projects as assigned by Supervisor;
- Follow all site Health, Safety and Security Procedures;
- Comply with established internal procedures;
Must haves :
- Professional Diploma in mechanics an asset;
- 2 to 6 years of relevant experience and strong understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment;
- Capable to diagnose cause of mechanical malfunction in GSE, determine the extent of the repairs, inspect used parts to determine cause of failure, and resolve issues;
- Thorough knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment plus the methods, tools and equipment to perform preventive and corrective maintenance of light to heavy GSE;
- Able to read and understand technical service manuals and technical drawings;
- Lift heavy items up to 50 lbs regularly and operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, etc. upon receipt of internal certification;
- Good verbal & writing skills;
- Teamwork, Initiative, Customer and Result oriented;
- Ability to sustain focus on multiple tasks;
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision;
- Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week on short notice at times; and
- Must be able to acquire a RAIC(Restricted Area Identity Card) and AVOP (Airside Vehicle Operator Permit) at the Ottawa International Airport;
- Valid Driver’s License required and able to drive a vehicle with a trailer;
Eligibility Criteria:
Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
