Job Description:
The Specialist, Quality Engineering is part of a multi-disciplinary team planning, developing and implementing quality policies and procedures for the manufacture of advanced laser range finders and laser designators. This position contributes to ensuring the products and processes involved in the manufacture of laser based electro-optical systems are compliant with company, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Assists with all aspects of assigned program(s) as Quality Engineer, including internal quality performance objetives, customer interface, program integrated product team and program supplier quality support.
- Schedules and maintains milestones and timeline tracking for key objectives.
- Performs preliminary reviews of NCMRsand evaluates in-process rejections per QMS procedures for non-conforming material and MRB actions.
- Perform drawing control and CCB review activities for new and revised documents, ensuring customer notification of changes when necessary.
- Perform final work order test data package review for compliance to specified standards included in Product Sell-off.
- Ensures program supplier quality issue resolution through coordination of resources with QC, Purchasing, and Engineering groups.
- Assist in coordinating the Corrective Action Report (CAR) system for customers, suppliers, internal processes and audits.
- Provide training and support to ensure CARs are issued, completed and tracked per schedule and requirements. Provide reports and analysis when required.
- Interface with customers, suppliers, and other company departments to resolve quality concerns.
- Perform internal and supplier surveys and/or quality audits.
- Perform analysis of manufacturing performance and prepare reports for management regarding quality trends and improvement opportunities.
- Lead interdisciplinary teams to resolve quality concerns via customer, supplier, or internal corrective action systems.
- Present oral and visual information.
- May perform metrology methods to confirm conformance to drawing tolerances.
- Supports and implements added objectives and activities as determined by Quality Management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree or equivalent and minimum 2 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- 4+ years’ experience working in regulated or standardized Quality Management Systems such as ISO9001:2015 or AS9100
- 4+ years’ experience in process design, development and testing of optical and electro-optical components and systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. Passport. Must be a United States Citizen
- Able to work weekends and evenings as required to meet company objectives
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Understanding of Risk Management principles.
- Creative problem solving.
- Knowledge of First Article Inspection requirements
- Knowledge of metrology methods.
- Experience in measurement system analysis and gage R&R.
- Experience in validation methods
- Experience with Statistical Process Control, Six Sigma and LEAN Manufacturing.
- Self-starter, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Possess exceptional communication (both oral and written) and listening skills, with a strong orientation to details, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions.
- Ability to make presentations to large audiences including customers, government personnel and senior management team members.
- Strong relationship building skills at all levels of an organization and the ability to work effectively across functions within a matrix environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
