Job Description:
Commensurate with the position of Assistant Facility Security Officer, incumbent is responsible for managing and directing all physical security related requirements and ongoing compliance within the L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems (S&AS) Space Systems business unit located in Amityville, New York. As the AFSO onsite, responsibilities include support and execution of all facility security functions including personnel security, program support, physical security, information security, document control, badging and access control. This position exhibits the dedication and expectation of security operational excellence required in a seasoned security professional while working and making decisions with moderate supervison. The person selected will work as a team player, exhibit flexibility, set priorities, and manage customer expectations in a fast paced environment. Responsibilities include interacting with internal and external customers or Government security officials in performance of security duties. The incumbent is responsible for supporting and enacting all L3Harris corporate policies including the protection of L3Harris’ intellectual property.
Essential Functions:
- Utilize specific databases to determine personnel eligibility to access classified information – DISS/NBIS, Enterprise Security Systems (SIMS), and other databases and record-keeping repositories.
- Conduct initial and recurring security briefings to cleared workforce members on topics such as critical program information, marking, safeguarding and destroying classified information, operations security, physical and communication security, and other security training as required
- Manage personnel records, classified material records and/or other sensitive records in to ensure the highest levels of data integrity and correctness
- Conduct inventories and records reconciliation actions to ensure accuracy and accountability
- Prepare activity or program concept of operation (CONOPs) outlining unique security protection requirements for sensitive operations; establish procedures for protecting, handling, storing, and transporting proprietary materials.
- Providing direction and security guidance, and ensuring compliance for all staff security reporting obligations.
- Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of a departmental insider threat program.
- Initiating and maintaining internal security awareness programs, and helping to execute security self-inspections.
- Assisting with the design and building of new open storage areas and administrative facilities as required.
- Assisting with the management of alarm, access control, and video surveillance systems, and providing after-hours alarm/emergency response as required.
- Create incident and security violation documentation for submission as needed.
- Reviews current operations, policies, SOP’s, SPP’s, and recommends ways to streamline operations.
- Dotted line supervisory responsibility for Security Guard force, security operations and crisis response implementation.
- Perform physical security, handling, transmission duties as required by customers.
- Responsible for assisting with technology control plans for foreign customer visits.
- Conduct training and update training programs as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- An active security clearance is required; Secret
- Must be able to walk or stand for prolonged periods.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $64,000 - $119,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
