Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic Logic Manager to join our L3Harris team in Mason, Ohio, and be a team lead for our Logic Engineering Team. As one of three Logic Engineering Managers, you will have the unique opportunity to work on leading edge products across the Space & Sensors Division, including infrared sensors, and space avionics and communication. This position reports directly to Electrical Engineering Department Manager and is focused on leading an experienced team of 7-12 Logic Engineers in support of new business pursuits, special projects, process improvements, internal research & development (IR&D), and development and production programs.
The successful candidate will be able to effectively switch between tactical and strategic planning, be able to translate strategy or business goals into actionable steps and drive the team towards the flawless execution of our programs. You will be responsible for keeping or logic engineering discipline as a world-class team that can deliver scalable, repeatable, and quality results on multiple simultaneous programs. This person will provide coaching and technical development for the direct reports and collaborate with other logic managers to promote a “one team” environment. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining an environment of highly collaborative logic teams, and will own the talent acquisition, resource management, risk management, proposal development, and development of training programs.
Essential Functions:
Expected to allocate approximately 25% of time to management responsibilities and 75% of time to technical responsibilities, on a weekly basis.
- Management Responsibilities
- Administration and management of the Logic Engineering Team. Meet functional requirements of staffing, training, talent development, engagement, and retention.
- Logic Engineering resource management and planning. Provide staff for programs, pursuits, and internal efforts (IR&D, Special Projects, etc.). Support pursuits and proposals, including review/approval of technical proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs).
- Logic Team Engineering-specific People, Process, and Tool Development. Advance the Space & Sensors engineering technologies and processes to ensure tools, processes, and staff are competitive and applicable to meet business needs.
- Career development of employees.
- Proactively mentor, coach, assist, and/or provide additional help to engineers in the analysis, design, build, integration, test, validation, verification, documentation, and/or maintenance of products.
- Manage 7-12 direct reports.
- Technical Responsibilities
- Manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction.
- Communicates within and outside of the logic group to explain and influence changes to practices, processes, and approaches.
- Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.
- Provide both technical leadership and direct technical development contributions to various space and sensors programs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum 5 years of program experience working in a Logic Engineering role.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Demonstrated ‘One Team’ collaboration and team building mindset, with internal subsystem team and multiple external suppliers, teammates, platform providers, and NASA/DoD organizations across all product lifecycle phases.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well within and outside of the organization including customers, vendors, and company or program leadership without oversight.
- Willing to travel as required.
- DoD and/or Space program experience.
- Able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
- Experience in a prior leadership capacity (i.e., Supervisor/Manager, Engineering Manager, Program Manager, Director).
