Job Description:
This role will support First shift within the L3Harris Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Testing Laboratory. As a Manufacturing Technician supporting EMI testing you will coordinate, prepare, manage, and execute testing schemes designed to access the integrity of our products with respect to applicable codes, stands and specifications and report the results to the applicable personnel. Additionally, the technician will support other associated tasks such as job preparation, coordination, mobilization / demobilization, and reporting as directed by their supervisor.
Associates are provided with approximately six (6) months of On-the-Job basic training where they will learn to operate EMC & RF test equipment and become familiar with a wide variety of support instrumentation.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure compliance with all safety and quality procedures, laws, regulations, and customer requirements.
- Responsible for conducting a variety of tests (emissions, immunity, and susceptibility) which encompasses setting up and performing tests as directed in accordance with written and verbal instructions, in accordance with applicable standards.
- Ensures that tests are performed exactly according to published specifications unless informed otherwise by supervisor or technical department manager.
- Assembles appropriate tools and test equipment to control and measure test parameters which includes documenting the testing process and outcome.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of test standards, product test procedures, and instrumentation.
- Accurately observes and records test progression and results. Organizes and documents data for each assigned project.
- Interacts with customers during the testing process, periodically assist with troubleshooting and development modifications.
- Identifies instrumentation in need of calibration and ensures it is not used until properly calibrated.
- Work closely with management and senior personnel for continuous process improvement.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that is cooperative and supportive of customers, co-workers, and managers.
- Perform area cleanup & housekeeping operations to maintain a professional work environment.
- Perform other related duties of comparable complexity as directed.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience OR 2 years post-secondary/associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in hands-on work with a strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with the use of hand and power tools.
- Experience with test equipment - programming, monitoring, collection of data, and fault diagnosis.
- Must be willing to work alternate shift with the possibility of first or split shift support if required as well as occasional overtime (with short notice) when needed.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to frequently move test equipment weighing up to 32 pounds to test benches or to carts for transport to other areas of the facility. Occasionally lift equipment greater than 25 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to occasionally position self by climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Constantly operate a computer and read testing procedures off a monitor.
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods as testing requires.
- Capability to move about inside lab, office, and manufacturing environments.
