Job Description:

L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions, a leading designer and manufacturer of laser, night vision, and electro-optic devices, is seeking a Software Engineering Manager.  As a member of our fast-paced, product-development team you will provide software engineering leadership and hands on technical expertise to support the development of embedded software for military systems.

As a Software Engineer Manager, you will contribute directly to the design and development of embedded software as well as manage a team of expert embedded software engineers.  In this role you will be responsible for the complete software development lifecycle, leading software development of complex projects from defining software requirements through release to production.  You will be a key contributor in defining the software architecture and designing for efficiency and reuse.  You will lead the team in best practices, staff to meet project needs, conduct performance evaluations and support career development. This role requires an energetic and motivated individual with strong communication, organization, and technical skills who works well in a multi-disciplinary team.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the estimation, planning, and execution of software through complete SDLC.
  • Work closely with Project Engineers to ensure projects are staffed to meet plan.
  • Execute software development using both agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Design, document, develop, and test highly reusable software.
  • Understand customer and system requirements and translate into software requirements.
  • Lead and participate in software design and code reviews.
  • Participate in integration, debug, and test of software and hardware.
  • Establish software development best practices to maximize quality and productivity.
  • Recruit and staff appropriate skillsets to meet forecasted business needs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support career development
  • Support proposals with concept designs and estimates.
  • Support, train, and/or mentor other team members in best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Expert in C++/C development for embedded Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Experience developing software for embedded linux applications
  • Proficient at distilling system requirements into software requirements.
  • Proficient at software design methodologies (e.g., UML).
  • Proficient with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Knowledge of multi-threaded development and interrupt servicing.
  • Knowledge of communications protocols (e.g., USB, I2C, SPI, UART etc.)
  • Knowledge of networking (e.g., TCP/IP), wireless, and Ethernet protocols.
  • Experience designing embedded products for Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP)
  • Proficient with Git and Jira
  • Experience developing applications for mobile platforms
  • Experience with Jenkins and DevSecOps tool chains
  • Proficient with electrical schematics and circuits.
  • Experience with ELM/DOORS Requirements Management
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
