Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Specialist, Composite Manufacturing Engineer & Programmerto work at our Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) located in Toney, AL, which is our inert manufacturing facility for fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware. The Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements and analyzes manufacturing engineering plans and projects and communicates them to internal and external customers. Defines, develops and transfers manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies and systems. Manufacturing Engineers lead process management activities and create associated documentation for assigned processes. This position will specialize in composite machining and cutting processes.
Essential Functions:
- Plan, develop, initiate and maintain processes for the fabrication of advanced composite parts.
- Create detailed work instructions, procedures, PFMEAs, and JSAs that meet design, process, quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Provide shop floor support of advanced composite manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical guidance and/or training to shop floor, design and management teams.
- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications in support of developing robust and advanced part and tooling designs.
- Interface support groups for processes to ensure accuracy, control and safety of the personnel and quality of the hardware.
- Perform investigations of nonconforming hardware and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Present fabrication processes at customer readiness reviews and present process changes to customers at change board meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant Manufacturing Engineer experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related Manufacturing Engineer experience.
In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related Manufacturing Engineer experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- GD&T background supporting part validation preferred.
- CAD modeling experience preferred.
- Experience machining complex parts using CNC and manual machines is highly desired.
- Experience programming CNC mills and lathes is highly desired.
- Experience machining composite materials is highly desired.
- Experience with operation and programming of Digital Cutting Tables is a plus.
- Experience with operation and programming of robots is a plus.
- Experience with operation and programming of CMMs is a plus.
- Experience with UG-NX is a plus.
