Job Description:
Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication. Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for non-technical and technical users. Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation. Documents engineering processes and specifications. Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements. Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.
Essential Functions:
- Plan, develop, organize, write, and edit operational procedures and manuals
- Analyze current content and make improvements as necessary
- Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
- Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content
- Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
- Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
- Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
- Work with internal teams to understand product documentation requirements
- Create strong content that fulfills company standards and audience goals
- Utilize a variety of media forms; include images and charts
- Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals
Qualifications:
Requires proficient knowledge of job area. May have practical knowledge of project management. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Proven experience working in a technical writing position
- Strong attention to detail
- Working knowledge of AS9100
- Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Great communication and interpersonal skills, especially written
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including SharePoint
- Ability to manage work schedules to ensure high quality deliverables are met within schedule
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary product teams
- Ability to work with leadership to identify risks related to tasking
- Ability to effectively track and communicate progress toward key goals and milestones so deliverables are met on time with high quality
