Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team in Phoenix, AZ or Grand Rapids, MI or St. Petersburg, FL.
Electrical Engineer Intern responsibility entails a broad range of electrical engineering disciplines including the design, test and integration of CCAs containing analog, digital, power and high-speed circuits, along with supporting cables. The position supports Commercial Avionics products, including surveillance, transponder, recorder, display, and sensors. The position will be responsible for electrical design tasks including requirements analysis, specification generation, interface definition, component selection, circuit simulation, schematic capture, board layout, and product testing.
Essential Functions:
- Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design from concept to implementation, verification, integration, sustainment and obsolescence management
- Analog, digital, power, and high-speed circuit design
- Create and modify documentation to provide design descriptions, analysis, requirement traceability, bill of materials, and support for PCB design
- Participate in design reviews with peers, senior engineers, and non-engineering staff
- Interface with software, mechanical, FPGA firmware, RF, test, certification, project management, and program management teams
- Perform evaluation, simulation, bread-boarding, test and troubleshooting of electrical circuits
- Support resolution of production issues and part shortage/obsolescence efforts for production
- Analyze electrical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science Engineering or related field
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of and/or understanding circuit analysis and operational concepts
- Knowledge and/or experience with digital, analog, and power circuit design
- Knowledge and/or experience with aerospace and/or avionics equipment
- Knowledge and/or experience with schematic capture software such as Xpedition, EDM, Cadence, Allegro, Altium, etc.
- Knowledge and/or experience with circuit simulation software such as SPICE
- Experience and basic understanding of the use of various electrical test equipment, such as oscilloscope, function generator, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer, etc.
- Excellent communication, technical writing and presentation skills
- Familiarity with various computing environments (LINUX/Windows)
