Job Description:
Field Engineering Specialist is responsible for operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of the complete spectrum of avionics systems and proprietary communication systems incorporated in aircraft. Also maintains, repairs, tests and/or calibrates various types of aircraft electronic equipment and related devices such as transmitters, amplifiers, receivers, RF distribution equipment, computer controllers, and workstations on operational aircraft. Applies technical knowledge of electronic principles and strong knowledge in troubleshooting techniques to determine mission equipment malfunctions and restore aircraft mission systems to full operational status. Installs and maintains Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) modifications to the aircraft and advises operations and maintenance personnel on their use. Performs work in accordance with technical manuals, schematics, engineering drawings, and written/verbal instructions.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to interpret schematics and engineering drawings.
- Ability to work with a wide range of technical reference material from commercial/OEM manuals to blueprints/engineering drawings.
- Willingness and/or ability to travel in excess of 50% of the time.
Qualifications:
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance investigated within the last six years, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of operational procedures, inspection requirements, troubleshooting, and maintenance techniques on aircraft communications/navigation and ancillary electronics systems
- Ability to pass FAA Class III medical exam.
- 2+ years experience in aircraft electronics equipment and system operation.
- 6+ months experience in flight status
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active DoD Top Secret security clearance is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift, bend, and climb.
