Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic supply chain team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the entire procurement process, from requisition to purchase order closeout, ensuring timely delivery of components in support of various programs, product lines, and customers. Proficiency in SAP and a solid understanding of procurement processes are essential for this role.
Essential Functions:
- Procure components, supporting diverse programs, product lines, and customer needs.
- Initiate and negotiate cost-saving measures, leveraging innovative strategies to enhance value and optimize the organization's financial performance.
- Directly communicate status updates, action plans, and recovery strategies with program, planning, and operations teams.
- Develop and implement strategies for on-time delivery (OTD) execution, material cost reduction, lead time improvements, supplier rationalization, and working capital optimization.
- Spearhead procurement process improvements and supplier management initiatives as identified.
- Resolve procurement discrepancies in collaboration with accounting, suppliers, and other internal departments.
- Partner with Quality and Engineering to conduct vendor source inspections, aiding in the development of new vendors and supporting vendor corrective actions.
- Manage the procurement lifecycle from requisition to purchase order closeout, including sourcing, negotiation, awarding, and strategic partner oversight.
- Represent the organization in meetings with internal and external stakeholders to manage specific projects.
- Negotiate with suppliers to adjust contract dates on purchase orders to align with program need dates.
- Interface with the supply base to monitor and manage quality and delivery performance, impacting Supplier Performance Metrics.
- Prevent production material shortages by proactively identifying and expediting necessary items.
- Lead internal and external meetings and conference calls to address supplier quality and delivery issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Professional business certification (CPCM, PMP, CPIM, etc.).
- Cross-functional experience – planning, sales administration, quality, etc.
- Experience with both commercial and government procurement.
- Experience with executive interaction and briefing, driven by key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in SAP ERP systems, with transactional capability.
