L3Harris is actively seeking a Quality Assurance Engineering Manager that will oversee a team of professionals monitoring and improving the Waco site Quality Management System. We do offer competitive benefits and a generous relocation package.

Job Description:

  • Leads, directs, and reviews the work of professionals or lower level supervisors.
  • Communicates within and outside own function to explain and gain cooperation on policies and practices.
  • Makes moderate to substantial improvements to processes, systems, and solutions.
  • Plans and establishes goals and objectives for a team with direct impact on the short-term operational results for the department.
  • Requires practical knowledge in leading/managing projects, processes, and employees and has strong knowledge within professional discipline.
  • Responsible for the design, development and implementation of standards, methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of company products in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs analysis on reported nonconformities and discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical systems, field and clinical data.
  • Further investigates the cause for discrepancies and nonconformities to develop disposition and recommend corrective action plans.
  • Leads material review board and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities.
  • Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.
  • Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) throughout the product maturity cycle
  • Value added participation and collaboration in kick-off reviews, technical and program reviews
  • Application of root cause analysis, lean/six sigma methods and corrective actions
  • Exceptional problem solving/avoidance capability
  • Benchmarking and adapting industry best practices to drive state of the art quality management standard work
  • Teaming with all functions to improve mistake and error proofing, and implement lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Engaged in operating income initiatives, reducing operations costs, and increasing efficiency

Essential Functions:

  • Provide assistance, direction and technical guidance relative to Quality issues involving Suppliers and Subcontractors, Manufacturing, Hardware and Software Engineering.
  • Responsible for the Core Quality Engineering function, supporting all business practices including quality planning, compliance monitoring and validation for programs, hardware, software, and inspection.
  • Hands on leader with responsibility for resolving technical challenges, ensuring successful tactical execution, as well as creating and implementing the strategic vision for the Quality department.
  • Work closely with the program teams and the functional organizations to ensure that all phases of the customer life cycle, from early customer involvement through post-delivery support, meet the requirements for mission success.
  • Ensure that manufacturing engineering, operations and design engineering interact sufficiently throughout the product planning and design phases to ensure a seamless hand-off during product transition to production including design reviews and facilitating quality concurrent Engineering.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of quality records that document the quality status of material/products and provide necessary information and cumulative data for internal and external Customer responses.
  • Develop and implement Quality plans and programs promoting sound and effective principles as set forth in company procedures, government standards and directives, and commercially-proven methodology and ensure that the department conforms to these principles.
  • Improve the efficiency of the Quality organization through effective leadership, individual and group training, and process improvement.
  • Collect and analyze key quality measures such as Cost of Poor Quality to develop zero defect plans, improve yields and reduce rework during engineering and manufacturing efforts.
  • Report to senior leadership on business performance including action plans to improve business execution and status of strategic initiatives.
  • Lead implementation of new processes, activities, and culture that enhance the customer experience and engage every employee across all disciplines at the site in a quality focused mindset.
  • Take a lead role in building a culture that reinforces compliance with appropriate laws, regulations and/or guidelines and internal command media.
  • Maintain certification and compliance efforts for AS9100, CMMI and other required certifications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience or equivalent; or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience or equivalent. Substitution of additional relevant education and experience for stated qualifications may be considered.
  • Practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects, tactics, and employees within a team. Typically has strong knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other ares of the organization.
  • Ability to access ITAR controlled items and/or articles (Requires U.S. citizenship)
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Experience in leading Continuous Improvement events
  • ASQ certification(s)
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of MS Excel & MiniTab
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including communications, facilitation, consulting, coaching, and influencing.
  • Self-motivated and possess demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve timely results.
  • Highly collaborative style, capable of working across multiple functional areas to drive results.
  • Six Sigma Blackbelt certification and/or proven education or work history in leading and implementing projects.
  • ISO9001 or AS9100 process audit experience (certification preferred).
  • Experience managing AS9100 or AS9110 certified businesses preferred
