About Aeromet
L3Harris -Aeromet is a Division of Integrated Mission Systems Segment with its main office is located in Tulsa, OK. L3Harris-Aeromet is established within the DoD Community as the developer and operator of special mission ISR systems. We provide special mission system design, modification, and operations with emphasis on the development and integration of state-of-the-art EO/IR sensor systems.
Job Description:
Develop aerospace technical publications to include Aircraft Flight Manuals; Aircraft Maintenance Manual Supplements; Special Mission System Operations Manuals & Flight Crew Checklists and Component Maintenance Manuals. Generate text derived from sources such as engineering drawings/vendor documentation and interviews with SMEs. Prepare technical content using tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word and customer-directed tools. Format documents per industry standards, company standards or customer-defined specifications. Develop illustrations and graphics using Adobe Illustrator. Coordinate and lead technical publication In-Process Reviews. Publish technical publications using Adobe Acrobat and coordinate release through company data management system. Support business development and program management activities.
Essential Functions:
- Interpret, translate and summarize data sourced from engineering drawings, ECOs, schematics, diagrams and IPCs.
- Generate flight and/or maintenance manuals for airborne and/or ground-based mission systems.
- Develop operational procedures, theory of operations, troubleshooting, fault isolation procedures, test, and repair procedures.
- Plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational procedures and maintenance manuals per applicable industry and/or customer specifications.
- Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals.
- Maintain a comprehensive library of technical documentation and illustrations.
- Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style and format.
- Ensure configuration consistency in updates/revisions to technical manuals.
- Must be able to work within defined budgets and meet schedule deadlines.
- Strong computer skills with solid understanding of MS Office Suite and applications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to transition between different programs and publication styles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Engineering or related field and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree English, Engineering or related field and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience working with aerospace practices, and industry technical publications specifications (i.e., ATA 100, ATA iSpec2200, S1000D), with an understanding of commercial and military aerospace practices.
- Minimum of 2 years work with Adobe FrameMaker or other technical writing tools such as Arbortext.
- Minimum of 2 years S1000D or DITA
- Minimum of 2 years producing graphics and illustrations using tools such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop highly desired.
- Minimum of 2 years using engineering tools such as Teamcenter/SmartTeam, SolidEdge/Nx as well as AutoCad and Capital strongly desired.

Preferred Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with military technical publication specifications such as MIL-M-38784, MIL-DTL-87929, MIL-DTL-38807.
- DITA strongly desired.
- Experience with military Mission Systems Operations Manuals and Abbreviated Mission Crew Checklists highly desired.
- Experience developing and publishing IETMs.
