Job Title: Optical Engineer (New Grad- Tulsa, OK)
Job Location: Tulsa, OK
L3 Harris- Aeromet builds and operates airborne EO/IR imaging systems. Aeromet’s largest contract is AirBorne Sensors (ABS), which is a test and measurement program supporting the collection of photo documentary and radiometric data for the Missile Defense Agency.
Aeromet executes all phases of ABS including purchasing and modifying Gulfstream aircraft, designing and integrating optical systems, tracking missiles in flight, reducing data and providing an analyzed data product to the customer.
Responsibilities:
The Optical Engineer responsibilities will include conceptualization and design of new optical sensor systems. This will include customizable sensor platforms installed inside the plane as well as turret style optical systems installed in a pod on the exterior of the plane. The successful candidate will be able to independently design a wide variety of optical systems, including imaging radiometers, spectrometers and multi-band, shared aperture imagers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering
GPA of 3.0 or greater
Preferred Skills:
Optical Engineering, Electro-optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering and Astronomy
Industry design experience with ZEMAX or equivalent optics design tool
Design experience with imaging and spectrometry systems in visible through LWIR regimes
Must have good communication skills and be able to work in a highly dynamic environment
Ability to fly on HALO aircraft for mission deployments
