Responsible for research, design, and development of computer software systems, in conjunction with hardware product development. Primarily responsible for the design and development of software products for a variety software applications. Participates in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test of software products. Applies computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of software for the target application. Works closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system. Develops software test procedures, software programs, and related documentation. Contributes to determining, estimating, and validating the cost and scope of software efforts to ensure software performed meets program cost, schedule, and technical constraints.

Intermediate professional with practical knowledge of job area. Works under moderate supervision to set objectives for own job area. Communicates with contacts inside and outside own team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures Identifies and addresses changes within own job area. Works to achieve operational targets with some impact on departmental results.
- Automate processes involved in the manufacturing of travelling wave tube (TWTs)
- Develop automated stations and/or instrument existing stations to allow for data acquisition
- Determine what equipment to purchase to instrument station
- Work with the facilities department to get the equipment installed
- Write software to automate the station and capture relevant data electronically
- Add to an existing web-based interface that pulls the data and displays data in a user-friendly format
- Lead small-scale, cross-functional improvement events yielding savings and efficiency returns
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 2 years of relevant programming experience.
- Experience interfacing with equipment through software through a variety of interfaces (Ethernet, GPIB, Serial)

Preferred Additional Skills

- Familiarity with Vacuum
- Familiarity with PLCs
