Location: Torrance, CA
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced XPC PROJECT ENGINEER to join the Electric Propulsion group at our Torrance, California location. In this position, you will perform circuit design and analysis of electronic power supplies for use in our space ion thruster (Xenon Ion Propulsion System) applications. You'll develop and design power supplies and interface circuits to drive and control XIPS high-voltage electric gas discharge devices. You will also support the power supply production line in testing, troubleshooting and anomaly resolution, and may be called upon to lend your expertise to the new-program proposal process.
- You should have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or applied physics and at least six years of electrical engineering experience, with a substantial background in the design of switching power supplies processing up to several kilowatts of power.
- Thorough knowledge of switching converter topologies and control feedback loop design is required, and you must be able to independently carry out design and development engineering work.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Knowledge of high voltage and electric discharge operation in a space environment is desirable.
- Experience with one or more simulation tools such as PSPICE or SABER and knowledge of design methods for EMC is a plus.
