Job Description:
The L3Harris Communication Systems segment is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Electrical engineer experienced with Digital Design to join an engineering Hardware organization that designs and delivers leading edge communications products.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of circuitry and PCB layout best practices in digital hardware development for tactical radios and PA accessories. This individual will be a member of a cross functional development team with hands on responsibility for leading aspects of design, analysis, integration, and testing. This candidate will spend 50% of the time on new designs and the other 50% enhancing existing customer products.
The candidate will work collaboratively across the engineering organization to focus on the requirements management, technical baseline creation, review and approval, technical roadmap creation and aspects of system engineering process compliance including, but not limited to, process artifact review and approval and risk management/analysis.
Essential Functions:
- Support digital hardware research, design, and development of software defined radio systems(including simulation and analysis)
- Application of the principles and techniques of electrical engineering
- Make design decisions and assess technical risks based on schedule and budget constraints
- Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct tests, and evaluate results
- Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
- Perform integration with other subsystems including RF, FPGA, DSP, embedded firmware, etc.
- Perform subsystem and system level verification and validation testing
- Completion of assignments and delivery of results with general supervision/support
- Experience with high-speed digital communications protocol (USB, Gb Ethernet, PCIeXpress, etc) and testing
- Experience with circuit analysis and operational concepts
- Experience with schematic capture tool usage (Mentor vx2.6/DxDesigner preferred)
- Experience with various computing environments (i.e. LINUX and Windows)
- Experience with scripting programming language (LabView or Matlab preferred)
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with common test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, and Signal Analyzers and Hardware Digital Design
