Job Description:  Manages cybersecurity professionals. Works with Director of Cybersecurity Operations and other Sr. leadership to ensures the ISSO team remains, staffed, fully engaged, and integrated with accredited enclaves. Mentor and develop team members, assisting in their career development and planning.  Recommend department training needs and security tools acquisition and or training per the annual operating plan up through the Operations Support Management Team.

Works to find solutions that are agile, compliant, and support L3Harris’s ability to deliver products and capabilities on time and on budget.

Works with Program Management teams across the accredited enclaves in the Space Systems T&RF Division to identify proposed system and program requirements. Works with the PM, Business Development, and Cybersecurity Engineering team early in the process to assure adequate cybersecurity scope is integrated into the proposal.

Works with the PM, Engineering IT/SA, and Cybersecurity Engineering (ISSE) functions to ensure security auditing tools are working as designed and optimized to present actionable alerts and information for the ISSOs conducting audit reviews.

The ISSM is an integral partner with Program/Industrial Security and CPSOs to prepare, participate in, and remediate Customer inspection activities or findings? Builds strong alliances with these functional teams to ensure the overall success of the Cybersecurity Programs.  

Performs ISSM duties, directing operational cybersecurity activities of local the IS team, Influences and facilitates the implementation of a common Risk Management Framework (RMF) baseline across all customer bases.

Ability to communicate complex information, concepts, or ideas in a confident and well-organized manner through verbal, written, and/or visual means. (NICE KSA A0013)

Essential Functions:

  • Applies Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (C.I.A) principles (NICE KSA S0006)
  • Participates in Industry Forums to understand and communicate potential threats to accredited information systems in their purview
  • Ensuring ISSOs author and maintain Assessment & Authorization (A&A) artifacts of assigned information systems
  • Oversees and coordinates security control assessments and Continuous Monitoring Plans at the facility 
  • Chairs/co-chairs the facility’s Change Control Board (CCB)
  • Work with Engineering IT (EIT), Cybersecurity Engineering (ISSEs) and program system administration organizations to develop device and system hardening guides following ICD 503, NIST 800-53, and JSIG 6.9 Policy Guidance
  • Responsible for customer interface in the tracking and resolution of POA&Ms.  
  • Ensures all systems are rigorously monitored for anomalous activity
  • Conducts vulnerability analysis recognizing vulnerabilities and coordinates vulnerability remediation with EIT or Program SA (NICE KSA S0001)
  • Assures System patching intervals
  • Manage the spillage response process for their program areas of responsibility
  • Advise appropriate senior leadership or Authorizing Official of changes affecting the organization's cybersecurity posture. (NICA KSA T0005)
  • Assess the effectiveness of cybersecurity measures utilized by system(s). (NICA KSA T0018)
  • Communicate the value of information technology (IT) security throughout all levels of the organization stakeholders. (NICA KSA T0025)


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline
  • Active Top-Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain SCI
  • Minimum DoD 8570 Baseline Certification IAT III i.e. CISSP
  • 9+ years’ experience as an ISSM supporting or managing cybersecurity on classified systems under JSIG, ICD 503, and/or NIST 800-53
  • 2+ years’ experience developing, managing, providing evidence to close POA&Ms associated with the A&A and project management processes
  • 2+ years’ experience managing a small team

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Server operating systems
  • Other DoDI 8570.01 IAM III certifications
  • Experience with Linux is a plus
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities
  • Able to socialize ideas, make recommendations, and gain team consensus
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills, customer relationship building skills, analytical skills and ability to lead/mentor teammates.

  • Experience with Microsoft operating systems
  • Experience reviewing logs on workstation, server, firewall, & IPS
  • Experience with DISA STIGs and SCAP Compliance Checker
  • Experience interpreting vulnerability scanning results (Nessus, ACAS, Retina)
  • Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills, customer relationship building skills, analytical skills and ability to lead/mentor teammates
  • High level of personal motivation and initiative to learn and acquire new skills
