Title: Specialist, Program Management

L3Harris is seeking an experienced professional with practical knowledge of program management to manage programs or processes with general supervision by the Director of programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Communicates with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Recommends enhancements to systems and processes.
  • Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs with moderate impact on departmental results.
  • Works under general supervision of other senior program managers and business area Director of programs.
  • May be responsible for entire programs/processes within job area or appropriate supportive role to potential larger programmatic efforts with multiple customers/stakeholders
  • May be responsible or providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area
  • May manage projects at this level with responsibility for the delegation of work and the review of others' work product.
  • Communicates with contacts inside and outside of own department and may occasionally have responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.).
  • Explains and interprets processes and procedures to others within and outside the job area.
  • May work to justify and gain cooperation regarding processes, practices and procedures
  • Work consists of making moderate enhancements or improvements to systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area.
  • Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are general, and may require understanding of broader set of issues but typically are not complex.
  • Problems may require understanding of other job areas, which the Director of programs will help mentor.
  • Problems are typically solved drawing from prior experiences, with peer PM’s across the team and certainly with one-on-one mentoring by the Director of programs.
  • Will be expected to achieve operational targets with moderate impact on departmental results, as guided and mentored by the Director of programs.
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs, or aides other PM’s on the team if working collectively as part of a larger program in support of multiple customers and stakeholders.
  • Exerts some influence on the overall objectives of the program and looks for efficiencies and risk mitigation strategies during program execution.

Basic Qualificiations:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous field-service representative (FSR) experience a plus, but not required
  • Hands on experience in Earned Value Management System (EVMS) methodology and tools to monitor and report status on program execution, Cobra preferred.
  • Advanced experience with the entire MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Travel on occasion, up to 10% at time
