TITLE: Capacity Planning
JOB CODE: PPP4
LOCATION: Salt Lake City, UT
Responsible to evaluate all production order activities for assigned manufacturing work cells. Manages work cell schedules by creating short, medium and long term production plans utilizing MRP demands, forecasts, product yield analysis and historical unplanned work trends.
Capacity Planners will coordinate multiple program requirements to optimize program performance, factory throughput, utilization and efficiency.
Responsible for creating work cell production plans in a highly variable Engineer to Order/Make to Order environment, identifying variances to plan, performing risk analysis, coordinating between stakeholders, mitigating variances and communicating revised plans to stakeholders and management.
Must be able to effectively evaluate evolving production levels to determine the need for increased throughput or utilization concerns. This position will work closely with manufacturing, test, inspection, production planners, and OPMs to determine optimal short and medium term plans.
Must be able to identify, communicate and coordinate mitigation efforts on issues that drive production backlog in assigned work centers. Conduct regular analysis and metric monitoring, and will assist with planning and communication.
Individuals must be comfortable with analysis, project management principles and communication at all levels of the organization.
Expert communication – Must be able to communicate production schedule and throughput variances with responsible stakeholders to determine mitigation plan and duration. Will need to communicate significant variances and recovery plans with management.
Technological proficiency – Should be comfortable learning ERP tools and principals, desktop applications, analytics tools, and familiarity with metrics to perform job functions
Project Management – Requires familiarity with basic project management principles such as planning, resource planning, project scheduling, cost management, variance analysis, mitigation planning, risk analysis, and stakeholder communication
Leadership – Will be called upon to act a lead in assigned area to understand, represent and coordinate between multiple needs and objectives. Will be accountable for ensuring execution of mitigation plans are achieved.
5 years relevant experience in a related field
4 years experience with ERP systems, various computer systems, and standard MS Office tools.
5 years professional experience in Project Management, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
PMP or APICS certifications desirable
Able to obtain and maintain a US Security clearance
