Software Release Train Engineer

Job Location: Rockwall, Texas

Job Description:

The Release Train Engineer will support a cross-functional engineering team on a DOD Technology Program with primary focus on collaborative real-time networking applications.This role will involve applying your agile knowledge, organization, and communication skills in creative and innovative ways. Our products provide a wide area of opportunities to apply your skills and realize new ones. You will have the opportunity to work with many roles in different levels in the company, understand big picture program priorities, and learn to balance company objectives to enable team success. The program you will support will be fast moving, always interested in the best technical solution, and always open to new ideas that improve the products we produce for our customers.

Essential Functions:

  • As a Release Train Engineer, you will facilitate Agile Release Train events, like Program Increment Planning and Inspect & Adapt.
  • Help your team of teams to understand process and strive for more efficient program practices at a sustainable pace.
  • By embodying the values and principles in the Agile Manifesto, you will also help your team of teams consistently achieve committed goals, prioritize quality over speed to minimize defects in the software, help analyze team ART performance, and monitor and mitigate impediments and risks.
  • Advocate for the growth, opportunity, and technical excellence for people on your ART! As an RTE on this train, you will also directly manage a team of Scrum Masters supporting your release train, mentoring and enabling their individual career growth.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar major and a minimum of 9 yrs of prior relevant work experience or Graduate degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior relevant work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in agile environment using Scrum framework.
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework, Lean-Agile Principles, Agile Manifesto’s Values and Principles, and growth mindset.
  • Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP) and cross-function co-located and remote teams.
  • Experience with engineering processes and best practices.
  • Experience leading large-scale agile transformations and managing multi-team, multi-product programs following Scaled Agile approaches.
  • Experience with indirect leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with Jira administration

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active DOD Security Clearance.
  • Growth mindset focused on driving continuous improvement
  • Ability to learn new tools and processes
  • Certification with SPC, RTE, and/or other SAFe certifications
  • Experience directly managing others
  • Experience visualizing multi-team progress in combined views and managing changes to plan.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and presenting
  • Strong Organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, including written, oral, and listening
  • Professionalism, proactiveness, and self-awareness
