Job Description:
The Sr. Specialist, Systems Engineering (Integration and Test) will be responsible for responsible for the test and evaluation of radar systems and related capabilities.
The Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division is a part of L3Harris’ Agile Development Group and specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for planning and execution of the tests, including defining test requirements, creating a test plan, determining the test instrumentation required to capture the required test data, holding Test Readiness Reviews and conducting the tests. In performing these tasks, the lead test engineer will work closely with all internal and external stake holders to coordinate the activities leading up to and including the test itself.
- Responsible for the program test planning, including development of the system test plan.
- Responsible for the integration of special test equipment and COTS in the lab and Test Chamber suite
- Responsible for ensuring that all instrumentation capabilities will meet the overall requirements for the test, as coordinated with the lead systems test engineer
- Assist with DUT integration and test execution
- Responsible for the after-test debrief and ensuring that all data artifacts are collected and made available for review
- Responsible for post-test analysis, especially for capturing lessons learned for improvement of the test plan for subsequent testing
- Participate in peer reviews, preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews and other required design reviews
- Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Up to 10% travel may be required
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- U.S. citizen
- Active DoD clearance with current 6 year update
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science
- A minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience in systems engineering / system test and evaluation
- Prior experience in qualification and design verification testing
- Experience in test and evaluation planning activities
- Experience with and background in RF, with a working knowledge of radar systems
- Experience designing, developing and implementing special test equipment for use on UUT evaluations
- Experience developing and executing Design Verification Tests for complex components and systems
- Experience with design for testability
- Experience and working knowledge of basic RF test equipment including Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, and Signal Generators
- Experience with LabView, MatLab or Python
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Science and/or equivalent experience desired.
- Degree or relevant coursework in Systems Engineering is desired
- Familiarity with a variety of radar types and modes
- DOORS experience
- Working knowledge of military standards
- Control account manager experience
- Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
- Outstanding work ethic and commitment to organizational success
