Job Description:

L3Harris Telemetry & RF Products in Bristol, PA is seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer to support RF design and development for its Flight Test Telemetry product lines. In this role, you will be responsible for design and development of transmitter and receiver products, with focus on RF and mixed signal sub-assemblies and circuits, including requirements definition, concept generation, trade studies, component selection, circuit design, simulation, analysis, PWB layout support, and product verification testing.

Essential Functions:

  • Generate design concepts and architectures to satisfy performance requirements, including trade studies when necessary
  • Design RF sub-systems, modules, and circuits for operation through the range from UHF to S and C Bands, including circuits containing amplifiers, mixers, filters, and analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters
  • Prepare and present design approach and simulations at internal and customer design reviews
  • Validate designs through simulation, circuit analysis, and prototype testing
  • Support production test in the event of test failures
  • Contribute to proposal efforts, including reviewing specifications, writing theory of operations, and generating detailed BOEs (Basis of Estimates)
  • Support customer with integration and troubleshooting of fielded products
  • Support Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) and Failure Review Boards (FRB)

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with at least 9 years of experience, OR a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years or experience
  • Technical knowledge of airborne RF systems / sub-systems
  • Experience interpreting high level requirements to develop RF architectures
  • Comprehensive experience in RF design of sub-systems, modules, and circuits containing amplifiers, mixers, filters, and analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters
  • Ability to analyze and design RF circuits and subsystems using commercially available tool such as Keysight ADS and SystemVue

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • An active Secret security clearance
  • Previous experience with design of Flight Test / Telemetry Transmitters or Receivers
  • Experience designing and testing RF power amplifiers
  • FPGA/DSP knowledge as relates to modulation schemes, such as PCM/FM and SOQPSK
  • Previous experience designing DC voltage regulators, including isolated and non-isolated switching regulators based on topologies such as Buck, Boost, SEPIC, Flyback, and Forward
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced work environment and to complete design/project goals with minimal oversight and direction.
