This position requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Export List, Canadian Controlled Goods Program, the Canadian Industrial Security Program, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be able to meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and able to obtain a Canadian NATO Secret clearance.
POSITION PROFILE
- Experience in the systems engineering life cycle, including typical tools for requirements development (i.e. DOORS);
- Issue Request for Proposal (RFP) and review responses for compliance to technical requirements;
- Create technical Product Specifications (TPS) to describe selected systems;
- Analyze, define and trace system requirements and recommend performance measures;
- Perform system engineering activities for bids, contracts and products in the military/civilian markets for domestic/international customers;
- Assist with creating high-level conceptual designs, innovative, scalable, and adaptive solutions to complex systems;
- Specify Interface Control Documents (ICDs) between system components;
- Support systems studies and analyses;
- Conduct trade studies and engineering budgets (power, weight, design margin, etc.);
- Identify risks, write risks statements and prepare risk mitigation strategies;
- Analyze and track baseline changes and estimate work packages;
- Design, implement and execute system test cases. Analyze and evaluate test results;
- Develop technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors. Identify potential suppliers. Monitor supplier performance;
- Analyze and simulate performance. Assist scoping and costing specialty efforts;
- Conduct industry engagement and trade studies for refinement of equipment specifications to develop optimal system solutions;
- Preparation of equipment procurement specifications;
- Assist in the development of test plans to verify and validate requirements;
- Requirements elicitation and decomposition towards subsystem elements including subcontracted items;
- Requirements derivation and development for subsystem elements;
- Production of technical documentation to capture the system and subsystem designs including the architecture, interfaces and installation elements;
- Support the development of verification and validation artifacts including plans and procedures;
- Implementation and integration of the system and subsystem designs; and
- Resolution of technical issues arising during the implementation, integration and testing of the system and subsystem elements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Engineering degree (Master’s is highly desirable);
- At least 10 years of professional experience in the design and integration of complex systems in the commercial and/or military domains with a focus in the following areas:
- Communications systems including cryptos, HF/VHF/UHF Communications, SATCOM and IP telephony (VoIP), and networks.
- Positive attitude with solution focused approach;
- Strong English written and spoken skills.
