Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

The Program Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of production programs and/or projects. This position requires the individual to be capable of handling a broad range of competing priorities on a daily basis. The incumbent will be responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of his/her programs and/or projects, ensure that customer requirements are met and direct all phases of the programs and/or projects within their span of control from inception through completion. He/she will be the primary customer contact for program activities and will be responsible for developing new business within their product and customer portfolio.  The Program Manager works closely with the Business Unit leadership team to identify risks within their programs as well as developing and leading risk mitigation activities.

  • Provides overall direction for assigned products/projects over the entire production life cycle.
  • Drives program execution in order to achieve key business and financial objectives for orders, revenue, operating income, and free cash flow for new, continuing, or current programs.
  • Administrative management of all laser component product lines, including customer delivery schedules, sales forecasting, customer communications, follow-on production order acquisitions, and system maintenance of production job orders.
  • Manages and leads pricing efforts annually or as new customer requirements arise
  • Team with Contracts for customer negotiations and award. 
  • Acts as primary customer interface for all program aspects and leads program reviews to discuss technical, cost and schedule activities.
  • Monitors and assesses program performance against annual operational targets (schedule and financial), identifies risk and opportunities and manages risk mitigation plan.
  • Develops and implements root cause / corrective action when necessary to initiate program changes.
  • Understands the role and responsibility of each team member, and through expert communication and leadership skills, establishes a common understanding among team members on scope, schedule, and financial objectives.
  • Works with Contracts and Supply Chain organizations to manage programs subcontracts via proper flow-down of requirements.
  • Maintains product configuration to ensure compliance with product specification, customer requirements, legal requirements, and company standards.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specification and Bill of Materials (BOM) changes, and drawing package release.
  • Controls expenditures within the limitations of the overall company budget for direct labor and direct materials.
  • Works within the established company program reporting structure, providing concise and accurate program status as well as necessary reports, as needed.
  • Continuously identifies program growth opportunities through the capture of follow-on orders and new or adjacent business opportunities.
  • Ability to work under moderate supervision, mostly independently on complex projects, setting own objectives to meet annual company goals.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and support personnel.
  • Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior in accordance with company values.
  • Perform job duties in a manner that maintains compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations, policies and procedures
  • All other assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business or other related discipline from an accredited university or college. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 8 or more years of directly related experience in production manufacturing or program management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven success in a fast paced manufacturing environment and possess a willingness to take ownership, accept accountability, and thrive under pressure.
  • Possess exceptional communication (both oral and written) and listening skills, with a strong orientation to details, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions.
  • Strong relationship building skills at all levels of an organization and the ability to work effectively across functions within a matrix environment.
  • Must be able to provide effective coaching and mentoring to develop a high performing and collaborative team.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing Customers, Engineering and Production with a focus on planning, organizing for results, managing multiple projects and leading people.
  • Superior analytical, motivational, and negotiating skills, with a high performance standard and a keen bias-for-action.
  • Demonstrated ability as a strategic thinker and experience in developing plans for short and long term results.
    • Provides overall direction for assigned projects/programs over the entire development life cycle.
    • Responsible for the cost, schedule, and technical performance of programs. 
    • Manages and leads proposal efforts from customer requirements definition through scope development, contract negotiation and award. 
    • Acts as primary customer interface for all program aspects and leads program reviews to discuss technical, cost and schedule activities.
  • Must be able to effectively flow down goals into measurable tasks to team members and manage team performance.
  • Proven ability to manage/lead in a transition to production environment.
  • Ability to evaluate and make recommendations on Contracts and Proposals.
  • Experience in continuous improvement environment including root cause evaluation and corrective action reporting.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a United States Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR - 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20), 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. Passport.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to customer sites and other L3Harris business units. Some international travel may be required.
  • Able to work weekends and evenings as required to meet company objectives.

Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
