Systems Engineer

We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer for our Northampton, MA location.

Essential Functions:

  • Synthesize and define complex electro-optical and electro-mechanical systems containing multiple different dependent subsystems and technologies.
  • Coordinate system level requirements internally and among subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Work with Project Engineer, other engineers and other departments to ensure that all technical contractual obligations are fulfilled.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality Systems Manual and applicable Standard Work Instructions.
  • Generate design review materials and communicate design decisions.
  • Adhere to budget and schedule commitments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Develop and establish basic systems which meet specific technical requirements.
  • Coordinate system level requirements internally and among subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Performs requirement allocation to system and subsystem level specifications.
  • Prepare and coordinate basic system architecture block diagrams.
  • Prepare and present internal and external design reviews, PDR and CDR activities to demonstrate the design meets all specifications and customer requirements.
  • Identify tasks associated with existing projects and estimate manpower and other resources required to execute objectives.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to management and customers.
  • Support Production Floor for system integration and test
  • Prepare and update system level Technical Performance Measures as required.
  • Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles and techniques.
  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Works under general supervision.  Follows established procedures.  Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy.
  • Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects.  Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in the program schedules and may result in the allocation of additional resources.
  • Primarily internal company contacts.  Infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.
  • Provide manpower estimating for proposals and estimates for completions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Software or Systems Engineering Physics or other relevant field.
  • Must have 2-3 Years of professional experience in a Systems Engineering role
  • Successful candidates meet eligibility requirements to access US classified information
  • Working knowledge, skill, and efficiency using computer tools.
  • Can prioritize tasks to ensure high priority tasks get completed on time.
  • Can determine applicability of standards on specific tasks.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Works in a typical office environment with exposure to light manufacturing environment
  • Light domestic and international travel environments – up to 25%
  • Software used: Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint, Outlook E-mail
  • Technical Software Used: Rational DOORS, Mathcad, MATLAB, SysCalc (microwave only)
  • The use of safety equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas
  • Must be able to sit or stand for up to nine hours
  • Capable of traveling domestically and internationally
