Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES – All Levels:

  • Prepare manufacturing estimates, including mechanical/ electrical inspection, mechanical/ electrical assembly, electrical and functional test, manufacturing support, and quality process support costs.
  • Review design layouts and engineering drawings; make recommendations for changes or modifications to facilitate manufacturing of assembly operations and reduction of defects.
  • Develop and maintain specific work instructions and procedures, including photos, visual aids to support manufacturing of product that conforms to drawing requirements and design specifications.
  • Prepare operations sheets and assembly/manufacturing instructions, showing sequence of operations, details of each operation, machine, tooling and fixturing to be used, inspection instructions and test requirements.
  • Must be able to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and apply Lean Green/Black Belt techniques such as DMAIC, FMEA, Standard Work and Value Stream Mapping, etc.
  • Monitor assembly/electronic/manufacturing instruction sheets and operations sheets to continuously improve the efficiency of the Operations Dept. Support Operations Managers with labor and cost analysis.
  • Develop, design tooling, fixtures, test equipment to support programs (AutoCad). Initiate requisitions for special tools, fixtures and equipment; assist Purchasing in specifications and procurement of tools and fixtures. Work to simplify tool design.
  • Support transition of new programs from design and development to production (New Product Introduction, Production Readiness).
  • Incorporate engineering change orders, advanced engineering change orders, notices of revision and approved engineering change proposals in operations sheets and assembly instructions.
  • Build and maintain a role in supporting cross functional internal and external teams with Engineering, Operations, Program Management Office and The Customer as required.
  • Monitor material non-conformance activity and develop corrective/preventative action plans as required.
  • Prepare production status reports and other reports or information as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: All Levels:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Meets eligibility requirements to access US classified information

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: Manufacturing Engineer, Sr. Associate, Level 2:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Environment/Equipment Used – All Levels:
    • Works in a typical office environment with exposure to light manufacturing environment and laboratory environment
    • Potentially domestic and international travel environments
    • The use of safety equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Publisher
  • Essential Physical Tasks – All Levels:
    • Must be able to sit or stand for up to eight hours
    • Fine motor dexterity
    • Hand-eye coordination
    • Concentrated mental/visual demand
    • Capable of traveling domestically and internationally up to 10%
    • Ability to walk and lift up to 30 lbs.
