Job Description

An active section manager within the Software Engineering department at L3Harris MAS.

The Manager, Engineering Enabling Systems is overall responsible of the software engineering environments and roadmap. He is also responsible for the collaborative environments (program management, document management, portals). He works in partnership with internal IT functions to ensure global IT practices are defined and integrated in all projects.

The Manager, Engineering Enabling Systems leads several geographically dispersed teams of highly qualified professional personnel (engineers and technicians) working on the engineering and the in-service support of multiple aircraft fleets.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

The selected candidate must be eligible to meet requirements and conditions of the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

A RELIABILITY security clearance will be required to start working. A NATO SECRETLevel 2 security clearance is required for the position.

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of specialization is required. A master's degree in a relevant field of specialization is an asset. Preferred fields of specialization: software engineering, computer engineering, and computer science.

A minimum of 10 years IT experience working on a combination of different systems implementation, implementation and maintenance of collaborative environment in the following preferred domains: IT administration, IT architecture, IT systems implementation.

A minimum of 7 years management experience leading a team and supporting multiple programs.

Broad and deep understanding of IT systems and architecture, lifecycle processes, and practices with a proven ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to the discipline knowledge areas.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of In-Service Support concepts in a Canadian military environment;
  • Demonstrated experience in IT environments in Aerospace programs;
  • Experience implementing and supporting Business Systems and integration platforms;
  • Strong knowledge of collaborative environments (program management, document management, portals);
  • Experience in implementing large scale Enterprise Application programs;
  • Knowledge of integrating systems with vendors, customers and contract partners;
  • Knowledge of the aerospace & defence sector is an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Experience interfacing with senior management, peers, and employees;
  • Experience working with subcontractors and Government customers;
  • Aptitude to develop and execute to a strategy;
  • Self-directed technical leader with strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Bilingualism required (English / French).

Essential Functions:

The Manager, Engineering Enabling Systems is overall responsible for delivering all committed work related to implementation and support of Business Systems and integration platforms, collaborative environments, and large-scale Enterprise Applications programs for in-service support programs, and acquisition programs led and supported by L3Harris MAS.

The position involves communication within and outside of the Software Engineering department to influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts. The individual will develop and champion new concepts or technologies, manage the implementation of strategies and recommend operational plans that directly affect the short-to mid-term department results.

The position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to lead well in a dynamic engineering environment. This position has visibility with company executive leadership and customer counterparts.

The Manager, Engineering Enabling Systems is responsible to recommend and implement new products, practices, processes, policies, standards or operating plans within the scope of the section’s responsibilities.

The Manager, Engineering Enabling Systems will influence programs’ technical development and help ensure the technical integrity and quality of the work performed.

Critical tasks include:

  • staffing, staff development, training, and mentorship;
  • strategic planning including annual operating plans and section goals settings;
  • technical effectiveness, quality, and improvement of section processes, procedures, and practices;
  • deliverables progress and completion monitoring;
  • bids and proposals support;
  • research and development support; and
  • procurement.

Location not accessible via public transportation, car required. Remote work from home during COVID, hybrid afterwards.
