L3Harris Space & Sensors Division, headquartered in Mason, Ohio, designs, develops, and manufactures complex systems (electronic, avionics, transceivers, transmitters, electro-optical, and electro-mechanical) for the defense, aerospace, and commercial markets. L3Harris is a recognized leader in Electro-Optical technologies that enable systems to support surveillance, reconnaissance, threat detection, and self-protection missions. Our world-class Space Avionics systems include equipment for Mars Rover/Landers/Orbiters, Launch Vehicles, and Imaging Satellite Communications.

Job Summary:

The Manager of Facilities Engineering plans, designs and oversees the reconfiguration, maintenance, construction, alteration, and automation of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities. In this role you will gather and review data concerning facility or equipment specifications and design, company or government restrictions and guidelines, required completion schedule, and execution feasibility. The manager coordinates with architecture and engineering firms, as needed, in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detailed drawings. Additionally you will prepare bid sheets, project justifications, statement of work documents and contracts for construction and equipment acquisition.

Qualifications

  • Leading the maintenance team in all areas of Environmental Health & Safety, quality, staffing, scheduling, and cost performance
  • Drive facility and equipment maintenance operations through preventative maintenance planning and Gemba meetings to ensure daily/weekly/monthly production goals are achieved
  • Lead the efforts for automation of key areas of improvement with the Manufacturing Engineering teams focusing on constraint elimination to reduce costs
  • Reporting out and briefing customers and multiple levels of leadership within the company as needed for equipment status
  • Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
  • Responsible for managing to approved budgets and approving contracts and purchases.
  • Communicate and collaborate with parties inside and outside of operations to explain and interpret policies, practices, and procedures
  • Provides input and drives team member development through daily coaching and performance management process
  • Works collaboratively across the company with other business leaders to drive resolution on issues

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of related maintenance and equipment management experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree with a minimum of 5 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
  • Experience in development and implementing automated equipment and systems into a low volume high mix operations environment
  • Experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) processes and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods
  • Ability to manage, coach, train and motivate team in technical and leadership development
  • Skilled in the deployment and use of Lean and 6 Sigma manufacturing tools/methods
  • Knowledgeable in project management and decision-making experience utilizing business and financial acumen
  • Basic to advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office software package (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects)
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication and coaching skills for collaborating with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to travel up to 15%

Preferred skills:

  • 2 years of experience with facilities maintenance and equipment automation
  • Experienced in the use of eMaint CMMS system
  • DELTEK Cost Point ERP
