Job Location: Malabar, FL
L3Harris is searching for talented Manufacturing Engineers to support the production of next generation, high-speed avionics hardware. This position will focus on manufacturing of high-performance avionics hardware including Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA), Sub-Assemblies and Chassis assemblies while providing continuous improvement of the automated manufacturing processes. In depth familiarity with all aspects of printed circuit board design and fabrication will be highly beneficial in this position.
- Generating and updating Assembly Method Sheets (AMS) and directing support personnel in the day-to-day execution of the manufacturing tasks
- Provide guidance, coaching and training to the manufacturing technicians
- Disposition of defective/failing hardware in support of meeting schedule, analyzing trends to identify where to take appropriate action
- Support the root cause and corrective action process
- Working alongside Quality, Test and Reliability engineering functions to achieve common program and operational goals
- Communicate effectively with internal and external organizations
- Design and develop manufacturing and engineering tools/ processes, strategies and systems
- Provide continuous improvement to drive out waste while increasing safety and quality
- Interfacing with complex hardware including circuit card assemblies (CCAs), microelectronic assemblies, cable harnesses, and higher-level system assemblies
- Surface Mount Technology (SMT) & Conformal Coating experience
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience or equivalent work experience
- Experience in Lean principles; mistake proofing, 3P, 5S+1, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Root Cause Analysis, Cause & Effect, Gemba, Pull-Flow, etc.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Hands on experience with Printed Circuit Board fabrication and/or assembly and chassis assembly
- Working knowledge and general understanding of IPC -6012, IPC-6013, IPC-A-600 and IPC 6018
- Background in manufacturing of electronics for Military and Government Systems
- Experience deploying DFM & DFT strategies on high complexity products and programs
- Knowledge in AutoCAD and/or Pro-E, technical writing, MS Project and/or MS SharePoint
- Strong analytical and problems solving skills
- Knows Aegis based Manufacturing Execution System (i.e. Fusion V7, FactoryLogix)
- Automated chemical dispensing process development
- Familiarity in Control or similar MRP based system and Aegis based Manufacturing Execution System
- Ability to obtain Secret Clearance preferred but not required
