Job Description:
Primary duties include but are not limited to: scheduled/unscheduled aircraft maintenance on all aircraft systems; turbine engine, propeller, airframe, flight control/landing gear/engine rigging, troubleshooting systems, daily/turnaround inspections, perform corrosion inspections and related treatment, washing/cleaning, servicing aircraft fuel/oil/hydraulic/oxygen/nitrogen systems, Structural repairs and component in-house repair/back shop programs. The aircraft mechanic reports to the Shift Lead Aircraft Mechanic.
Additional duties involve Non Destructive Testing & Inspections in accordance with National Aerospace Standard (NAS) 410. These tasks include: Performs Dye Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Eddy Current, and Ultrasonic inspections, equipment operations, set up, special tools & equipment operation, standards and test procedures. Documentation of all inspections conducted by an approved inspector who has completed required training by the company and/or manufacture for the equipment being inspected.
- Applicant must have a minimum of three (3) years aircraft mechanic level experience with a minimum of (3) years Non Destructive Testing & Inspection experience in aviation. Strongly prefer recent King Air, C-12, B200, 1900, or 350 experience on civilian and military platforms including Pratt & Whitney PT6 turboprop experience.
- Possess a Level II or Level III Non-Destructive Inspection Certification in accordance with NAS 410
- Current FAA A&P certificate
- Must be able to work shifts as assigned and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team if required. CONUS and OCONUS deployment is required
- Must be capable of completing/passing a required physical exam and CRC course prior to OCONUS deployment
- Must be able to work in the established work/living environment, work shift schedules as assigned 7 days a week, 12 hours a day to support mission requirements
- Experience in the use of common hand and special tools/testers as required for aircraft maintenance
- Must have in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Must have a current civilian driver's license, and be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver’s license
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim DOD secret government security clearance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Final DOD secret clearance
- Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations
- Must have an in-depth knowledge of using aircraft technical publications—read, interpret, follow and basic comprehension of schematic diagrams, drawings, and charts
- Must have a working knowledge (input and extract data) of maintenance database technology.
Physical Demands:
This maintenance classification activity is usually accomplished in a flight line-like environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 lbs. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close and peripheral vision, and acceptable depth perception.
Work Environment:
The diversity of working conditions range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist.
