About the Role

The Senior Specialist, Material Management is the focal point for material availability analysis, reporting, and constraint resolution for their assigned product line(s) in support the Production Plan, On-Time Delivery to Customer Contract Dates, and On-Plan Revenue Recognition. Analysis of the material supply profile enables this role to articulate the impact that proposed or completed changes in demand and/or configuration will have on the organizations ability to execute production as planned. This role drives material availability resolution and risk mitigation through to closure by way of Procurement/Supply Chain engagement and by leveraging the SIOP process.

Tasks to be Accomplished

  • Lead material availability analysis, reporting, and provide clear to build dates for assigned product line(s)
  • Utilize available MRP data and pegging reports to assess material shortages and identify opportunities to advance production builds where material availability will support
  • Analyze proposed build plan changes and engage Procurement to establish material availability projections
  • Participate in the SIOP process, providing build plan change request feedback and material availability status
  • Understand and convey the impact of build plan changes, including Forecast to Contract conversion, on material availability and contribute to establishing business impact expectations and risk mitigation strategies
  • Initiate action with Procurement where material availability (buys) does not support need date for planned production and track this activity through to closure
  • Initiate action with Don Mills Manufacturing where material availability (makes) does not support need date for planned production and track this activity through to closure
  • Actively participate in Production meetings, providing status for near-term material constraints and activity underway to clear each of the shortages as required
  • Provide critical information to all stake holders, where material availability does not support the build plan and could effect on-time completion of planned production or on-time delivery to customer contract requirements
  • Provide guidance to Production Planning with respect allocation of material which is in short supply to assist in minimizing impact on production and revenue
  • Set planned consumption of alternate material in ERP when available and as appropriate
  • Provide feedback to Production Planning with respect to closure of Firm Planning or Use Up Stock activity
  • Actively participate in the ECO process (TRB/CRB) by providing input required to define effectivity based on material availability, Procurement feedback, and Supplier capability/capacity to support the change
  • Contribute to ECO implementation planning (CIB) to best align demand with anticipated material availability
  • Identify and communicate impact of ECO releases related to material availability and material disposition

Skills Required

  • Firm understanding on ERP/MRP system methodologies, outputs, and scenario planning
  • Highly energized, creative, adaptable, and resourceful results orientated problem solver
  • Proven effectiveness in change management and impact analysis
  • Strong leadership/communication skills in a team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment Continuous Improvement

Experience & Education Requirements

  • 5 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain Management and/or Production Planning
  • Intimate understanding of ERP/MRP functionality related to Supply Chain Management, Material Supply Planning, Inventory Management, and Engineering Change Order processes and methodologies
  • APICS Certification or working towards certification
  • Post-Secondary Education University or College Degree/Diploma
