As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first.

About the Role

Reporting to the Wescam ILS Manager, the Data Modelling Analyst will provide logistic and operational modelling and simulation support in response to requests from aerospace and defense customers, internal product improvement programs and other programs and functions within the company. The Data Modelling Analyst will work with functions within engineering, Customer Support Group, bids and proposals and Program Management to creating cost effective support solutions that maximizes availability of the product whilst minimizing the logistic support footprint and cost of ownership.

The Data Modelling Analyst is Wescam’s modelling and simulation Subject Matter Expert providing key decision support analysis within the ILS department.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical expertise in modeling, simulation and analysis of complex electro-optic systems and mission system capabilities
  • Perform spares forecasting, Life Cycle Cost (LCC) & Level Of Repair Analysis (LORA)
  • Conduct data collection, organization and analysis. Evaluate program documentation to gather proper input data and exercise judgment in selecting defaults where data is sparse.
  • Maintain and update data and model input files to support studies and analysis efforts; use those data, model input files, and associated software, to support special requests for analysis and decision support
  • Develop key performance indicators and metrics that can be used to measure and report spares and support system performance.
  • Master OPUS Suite capabilities and be able to articulate its various value propositions to different target audiences.
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis to determine feasibility, cost and benefits of existing, new and modified logistic support systems using structured and unstructured data sets
  • Interface with systems and product engineers for technical validation and verification of data
  • Develop logistic modelling processes
  • Assist the Wescam ILS Manager in continuous improvement activities and other duties, as required

Required Capabilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work in dynamic and challenging environments.
  • Analytical and flexible when solving problems
  • Articulate communicator with excellent written, oral & presentation skills
  • Independent work style necessary to meet the challenges of multiple concurrent deadlines, effectively balance competing priorities
  • Able to draft correspondence, reports, white papers, minutes, spreadsheets, communications products, briefs, and other documentation.
  • Detail-oriented with strong emphasis on quality of work
  • Background in analysis of products, systems or large scale equipment such as assets for mining, oil and gas, heavy manufacturing, or power generation considered

Desired Education and Experiences

  • Degree/Post-secondary education in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering (Systems or Industrial), or Computer Science preferred
  • 4-6 years’ experience working in a similar capacity.
  • Practical analytics experience developing models or supporting complex support solutions analysis within the last 2 years is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience providing analytical support to mission level wargaming, modeling and simulation is an asset
  • Experience or knowledge of Spares forecasting and prediction, Level of Repair Analyses (LORA) or Life Cycle Cost (LCC) modeling
  • Experience on programs in Tier 1 or 2 defense contractors is an asset.
  • Knowledge of ILS related military standards including Def Stan 00-60/600, Mil Std 1388, ASD series is an asset
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods Program clearance
