Job Description:

The Senior Network Systems Engineer will perform as part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, integration, and troubleshooting of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and develop physical and logical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains
  • Designs and maintains networks (both LAN & WAN) connecting airborne and ground systems via terrestrial and BLOS (Beyond Line of Sight) circuits
  • Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements
  • Perform requirement traceability methods and purpose
  • Perform systems engineering trade studies
  • Evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness
  • Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements
  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system design
  • Review and evaluate diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements
  • Develop and execute network test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical network information to non-technical professionals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • OR Master’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with two or more of the following:
    • Networking experience including IP addressing, switching and routing, video teleconferencing, VoIP telephony, and WANs
    • Experience in routing protocols including EGIRP, OSPF, and BGP
    • Experience configurating and integrating routers, switches, and video teleconferencing equipment
    • Experience developing, authoring, and implementing software and system test plans in a team environment
    • Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (e.g. Electrical, Systems, Telecommunications, etc.)
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification
  • Experience with VMware and/or Kubernetes deployment/administration
  • Experience with SATCOM solutions/protocols
  • Experience with HAIPE devices
  • Experience with mGRE and DMVPN
  • Experience with MPLS
  • RedHat Enterprise: Linux
  • Experience with Asterisk
  • Experience with POTS
  • Experience working with subcontractors and US Government customers
  • Certification and Accreditation process and implementation of systems that achieved an Authorization to Operate on government networks
  • DODAF knowledge
  • Experience working successfully both independently and in a team environment with the ability to lead small test teams through an entire build cycle
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills 

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
