Job Description:
The Quality Specialist position serves as one of the POC for aircraft damage incidents, investigations and reporting site-wide. Also responsible for assisting with DCMA 8210 compliance activities spanning Ground Operations, Flight Operations and Safety, conducing routine audits, data entry, procedure review/maintenance, metrics, etc.) Position also supports Lead Internal Auditor as an adjunct auditor of AS9100D compliance.
Essential Duties:
- Assists with the Aircraft Damage Prevention Program and provides ongoing support to facility management in the way of leading damage investigations and developing a communication campaign to reduce incidents and improve reporting.
- Provides direction during investigations of the root cause of any aircraft/property damage or near miss arising in the course of business operations. Ensures appropriate actions are taken to correct unsafe conditions and/or behaviors.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with DCMA 8210 requirements related to safety, ground and flight operations throughout the facility. Assist with data collection / analysis / reporting on compliance to 8210 requirements.
- Serve as adjunct auditor for process audits related to AS9100D compliance within Program Management, Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain.
- Coordinate timely update and/or 3-year review of all local procedures related to 8210, to include coordination of changes between functional owners and DCMA.
- Regularly communicate with Facilities/Project Managers and Contractors, as well as our customers on matters related to quality and aircraft damage.
- May be required to apply discretion within identified boundaries and procedures. Responsible for making minor changes in processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of approaches being utilized. Expected to propose solutions to problems for others review and/or follow.
- Other duties and assignments provided by supervision / management.
- Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
- Flexible and proficient in managing multiple priorities in a fast paced, Matrix organization.
- Ability to collaborate and work well within a team.
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
- Candidate must be organized with the ability to communicate well with technical and non-technical personnel, both written and verbally.
Qualifications:
- Requires proficient knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience;
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of aerospace quality experience.
- 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior quality experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior quality experience.
- Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- May have practical knowledge of project management.
- Must have the ability to thoroughly investigate quality issues in a methodical manner, ultimately resulting in a report that identifies containment, root cause and corrective/preventive actions
- Should be familiar with Quality and Aerospace standards (ISO9001:2015, AS9100D
- Recent experience conducting 8D advanced problem solving to identify root cause / corrective actions.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Top Secret Clearance is Desired.
- Experience within an Aerospace Maintenance/Manufacturing Environment.
- Advanced Education and Certification in Root Cause Analysis.
- Knowledge of Aircraft Damage reporting requirements
- Professional Quality Certifications.
