Job Description:
L3Harris is currently seeking a NDI/NDT Quality Engineer responsible for the inspection and test of aircraft structures, assemblies and components for manufacturing, maintenance, and modification processes.
Essential Functions:
- Perform Non-destructive inspections of aircraft, structures, integrated components, engines, support equipment, and specialized equipment as required for the detection of faults or defects using NDT methods and techniques in ET, UT, MT, PT and RT.
- Must be able to meet NAS410 Level II certification requirements in the following methods: Eddy Current, Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic and Radiography. Eddy current testing will be the primary method for this role.
- Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision accuracy of products and production equipment.
- Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
- Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of direct experience to meet NAS 410 Level II requirements. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the following; manufactures manuals, engineering drawings, technical data, specifications, industry standards and company processes and procedures.
- Has previously held and or is certifiable to Level 2 NDT per NAS410 in ET, UT, MT, PT, RT.
- Must provide qualification documentation of formal training and previous experience meeting the requirements of NAS410.
- The visual health of the employee must be such that he/she are fully certifiable and able to function successfully as a Level 2 NDT per NAS410.
- Other essential physical requirements of the position will be reviewed with the applicant during the interview such as but not limited to DCMAI physical.
- Good written, verbal, presentation and virtual communication skills.
- Must have 18 months of recent NDI experience within the last 24 months
- Must be available to work no standard hours including weekends as required to meet production schedule, able to support off-site NDI requirements both CONUS & OCONUS as needed with little notice.
- Able to comply with all safety and physical requirements to access tight fit areas and or confined spaces such as aircraft fuel tanks, working from elevated platforms, ladders and on top of aircraft.
- Able to work independently and have solution and problem-solving skills.
- Good time management and prioritizing skills.
- Familiar with core quality tools such as 8D or 5s+1
- Experience with SAP
- Must be a US Citizen
Preferred:
- Active DoD Security Clearance highly preferred
- Currently certified as a Level 2 per NAS410
- Experience with automated scanning systems or MAUS/AUSS system operation
- Radiation Safety Officer experience
- A&P License or be qualified for repairman’s certificate application, FAR 145 experience
- Possess a current Industrial Radiography I.D. card issued by the Texas Department of State Health
- Previous experience in aerospace structure inspections
- Familiar with DoD Technical Manuals such as 1C-135-36, 33B-1-2, aircraft NDT manuals and FAA regulations
