Job Description: THIS IS A DOD SKILLBRIDGE OPPORTUNITY OPEN TO US MILITARY ACTIVE-DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS

A Sr. Associate, Technical Writer for the Technical Editing group responsibilities include but are not limited to the review of flight and/or maintenance manuals for airborne and/or ground based mission systems. Also, to review operational procedures, theory of operations, troubleshooting, fault isolation procedures, test, and repair procedures. As well as, the review of training courseware development materials.

The individual will be responsible for the edit review of maintenance manuals for multiple aircraft and ground systems. Typical systems would include flight deck communication systems, radar and navigation systems, flight display systems, electronic flight instruments, flight management systems, and terrain awareness and warning system, mission systems, maintenance training systems, and ground processing systems. Qualified individual will be required to review/edit block diagrams, illustrations, text, and theory of operation, troubleshooting, test, and repair procedures. Editor will be required to have the ability to interpret engineering drawings, wire lists, schematics, hardware specifications, software requirements specifications, software interface control documents, test procedures, and engineering personnel interviews.

Essential Functions:

  • Works independently on larger, moderately complex projects or assignments.
  • Responsible for making minor changes in processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of approaches and routines being utilized. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences or standard procedures and basic analysis

Qualifications:

  • Requires practical knowledge of technical editing processes and procedures
  • Applicant must be able to obtain a security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associate’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Candidate must be proficient in the use Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with VC-25, C32, C40, and/or RC135 Rivet Glass a plus.
  • Familiarity with Mil-Std 38784
  • Familiar knowledge of Interleaf Quicksilver, FrameMaker, S1000D, XML, Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator software applications are a plus.
