About the role:

L3Harris Training Systems play a key role on delivering the L3Harris Commercial Aviation Solutions mantra of ‘Creating Safer Skies’. From our computer-based solutions all the way to our state-of-the-art Full Flight Simulators (FFS), improving the training experiencing and creating safer skies is at the heart of everything we do. Our Flight Training Devices (FTD) and FFSs feature aircraft-specific flight decks, offering the form, fit, feel, and function of the actual aircraft.


As a Graduate Computing / Software Engineer, you will join the Simulation Technologies & Infrastructure Chapter in the Software Engineering department. You will apply your computing / software engineering knowledge to real-world engineering problems in the flight simulation domain. We are looking for computer science / software engineering graduates who can rise to new challenges and learn new skills. You will be working as part of a multi-skilled team and allocated specific tasks in line with project schedule.

Day to day responsibilities could include (but not be limited to):

  • Analysis of aircraft and equipment manufacturer’s data
  • Creation/modification of designs
  • Software design/modification using appropriate languages (typically C, C++)
  • Integration of software and hardware systems
  • Integration of rehosted or retargeted aircraft avionics software
  • Integration of third-party software
  • Validation and verification of design implementation
  • Testing, fault finding and problem rectification
  • Interfacing with customers and aviation regulators

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electronic and Computer Engineering (or similar)
  • An aptitude for problem solving
  • Resilience and tenacity
  • Self-motivated
  • Passionate about computing / software / engineering
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing (technical English)
  • Works well under pressure
  • High standards and expectations
  • Willing to take risks, be innovative, have an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Takes ownership and drives tasks to conclusion
  • Works collaboratively

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Understanding of the DevOps software development methodology
  • Use of the Atlassian suite: Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Artifactory
  • Awareness / knowledge / interest in aviation and avionics
  • Appreciation of real-time operating systems
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally
