Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies currently has an opening for an Orbital Analyst at Schriever SFB, CO supporting a program in the Missile Defense Agency. The Analyst will be member of a dynamic team supporting cutting edge systems for the space industry and will support satellite space operation activities. The Orbit Analyst will perform orbit determination and utilize analytical tools to for ephemeris generation, calculate orbit trajectories, and maneuvers.
Essential Functions:
- Provide Orbit Analyst support and expertise to satellite operations
- Generate TLEs, satellite acquisition tables, RFI data
- Provide custom orbit products to facilitate mission planning
- Perform orbit determination, ephemeris generation and orbital position estimates
- Plan and execute satellite maneuvers as required
- Assist in development of Orbit Analyst checklist and procedures as required
- Support programs by creating models, simulations, and analysis tools to real-time satellite operations
- Support Launch and Early Orbit checkout and anomaly resolution teams as required
- Attend and support daily operation briefings and readiness reviews
Qualifications:
- Active Secret Clearance
- Requires strong knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical/engineering discipline and minimum 4+ years of satellite orbital analysis experience
- Knowledge of ephemeris and orbit determination
- Experience in working in satellite operations environment
- Proficiency in satellite simulation software (STK, MATLAB, Freeflyer, etc.)
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in supporting orbit modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Experience in ephemeris generation
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $87,000 - $162,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
