Job Description:
L3Harris in Clifton, NJ is seeking an accomplished solid state power amplifier (SSPA) engineer to support the architecture, design and manufacturing of space-based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing products. This is a leadership level role with the ability to influence strategic direction of SSPA technology, develop roadmaps, and have a strong impact on day-to-day execution. Additionally, the successful candidate will have opportunities to engage broadly with the SSPA design community within L3Harris and be able to influence additional areas of business including radar, electronic warfare, and airborne telemetry
Essential Functions:
- Work closely with system engineering to understand customer requirements
- Develop architectures for next generation space based transmitter subsystems
- Decompose transmitter requirements into subassembly level functional and performance specifications
- Oversee detailed design of power amplifier circuitry
- Develop and execute plans to evaluate and down select components
- Lead investigations into performance anomalies and other non-conformances
- Provide oversight of subcontracted components essential to the operation of transmitter subsystem
- Prepare and present engineering design concepts and data results at internal and customer facing reviews
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required and at least 12 years of years of industry experience OR: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least 10 years of industry experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience with GaN SSPA Development including transmitter design using unmatched transistors
- Minimum 10 years of experience designing RF/Microwave circuits at the circuit card or module level (schematic capture, BOM generation, layout or layout supervision)
- Minimum 10 years of experience with linear and non-linear analysis of RF/microwave circuits using Keysight ADS or similar
- Experience investigating complex technical issues, determining true root cause and implementing corrective actions
- Experience with design verification and demonstration of compliance to performance specifications
- Experience with high power (>100W) RF measurements
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with following hardware design processes and generating required documentation
- Ability to generate cost/schedule estimates and technical whitepapers in support of business acquisition
- Experience with military or space qualified hardware designs
- Ability to perform 3D Electromagnetic analysis using HFSS or similar
- Experience characterizing SSPA devices or assemblies using load pull equipment
- Experience characterizing SSPA devices or assemblies nonlinear vector network analyzers
