Job Description:

Using complex mechanical assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and Engineering sketches, inspects and evaluates various microelectronic components for wiring, manufacturing and workmanship related defects. 

  • Perform inspections of microelectronic assemblies using complex mechanical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, Engineering sketches, visual aids, and special inspection instructions.
  • Inspect component location, polarity orientations, and workmanship to Military and/or special contract requirements.
  • Inspect and classify workmanship related defects relevant to solder connections, insufficient or excess solder, cold solder and solder voids and determine whether conditions are rejects or process indicators.
  • Prepare comprehensive written reports of inspection results for subsequent review and evaluation by engineering staff.
  • Provides assistance to engineers in the testing, evaluating, and modifying of the electronic and related equipment.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


  • High School Diploma or GED plus completion of a comprehensive course in electronic technology. Must be able to pass oral and written certification courses as they relate to on-going and new contractual requirements.

  • Minimum of 3 years electro-mechanical inspection experience using a wide variety of microelectronic components.

  • Familiar with CMM equipment and optical comparator microscopes.

  • Must have ability to read and understand complex mechanical assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and Engineering sketches, and the ability to read and write in English.

  • Must have a working understanding of print structures to determine “as built” vs. “as designed” configurations.

  • Must be able to use instruments such as verniers, micrometers, and height gages to measure and evaluate parts dimensions.

  • Also requires ability to use computers and microscopes.
