Using complex mechanical assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and Engineering sketches, inspects and evaluates various microelectronic components for wiring, manufacturing and workmanship related defects.
- Perform inspections of microelectronic assemblies using complex mechanical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, Engineering sketches, visual aids, and special inspection instructions.
- Inspect component location, polarity orientations, and workmanship to Military and/or special contract requirements.
- Inspect and classify workmanship related defects relevant to solder connections, insufficient or excess solder, cold solder and solder voids and determine whether conditions are rejects or process indicators.
- Prepare comprehensive written reports of inspection results for subsequent review and evaluation by engineering staff.
- Provides assistance to engineers in the testing, evaluating, and modifying of the electronic and related equipment.
- Other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED plus completion of a comprehensive course in electronic technology. Must be able to pass oral and written certification courses as they relate to on-going and new contractual requirements.
Minimum of 3 years electro-mechanical inspection experience using a wide variety of microelectronic components.
Familiar with CMM equipment and optical comparator microscopes.
Must have ability to read and understand complex mechanical assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and Engineering sketches, and the ability to read and write in English.
Must have a working understanding of print structures to determine “as built” vs. “as designed” configurations.
Must be able to use instruments such as verniers, micrometers, and height gages to measure and evaluate parts dimensions.
Also requires ability to use computers and microscopes.
