Job Description:
The applicant filling this position will lead manufacturing related activities on programs with electo/optic applications. The type of hardware produced at this Harris location is often complex, containing cable assemblies, flex assemblies, circuit card assemblies (CCAs), microelectronic assemblies and higher-level system assemblies.
Essential Functions:
- Interfacing with design engineers to ensure hardware producibility and develop build strategies.
- Planning and requesting manpower/equipment/process resources.
- Generating assembly documentation and directing support personnel in the day-to-day execution of the manufacturing tasks.
- Candidate will assist with manufacturing efforts with formal cost and schedule responsibilities and direct customer interface.
- Support process improvement initiatives of technical and operational nature.
- Design and develop manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies, and systems.
- Plan and support the build and modification of electronics systems including procurement support, assembly method/work instructions generation, tooling design support, material/process development, facilities/equipment planning, and resolution of manufacturing, quality, and reliability issues.
- Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
- Support the root cause and corrective action (RCCA) processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- 6 plus years’ experience in a manufacturing or integration environment
- Exceptional manufacturing skills
- Ability to lead a team up to 10 people on manufacturing, integration, and test activities
- Ability to lead teams, train and mentor personnel
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Exceptional organizational, verbal and written communication skills
- Must have computer skills including MS Windows and office products (excel, PowerPoint, word, and project)
- Strong sense of responsibility, ownership and follow-through
- Must be a team player, pro-active, and customer oriented with a sense of urgency to accomplish a given task or goal
- Exposure to Earned Value Management process and Variance Reporting
- Experience with process improvement tools including Lean, Six Sigma, 5S or Kaizen
- Experience with precision mechanical measurement and assembly tools
- Experience in Manufacturing/Operations leadership capacity (i.e. Group Lead, IPT Lead, PE, CAM)
- Experience in functional leadership
In compliance with California's Fair Pay Act, the salary range for this role in California is $90,500 - $168,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
