Job Description: L3Harris is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Inspector to support our quality needs and join our team in Carlsbad, CA. The successful candidate must be proficient in performing physical inspection with a wide range of inspection tools to include micrometers, gauges, and calipers, to optical comparators and microscopes. Quality department employees play a critical role in the daily Operations by controlling hardware quality and processes that support our client base. The inspector is responsible for performing hardware inspections, tests and/or audits of purchased parts, units, materials, equipment, panel/module level assemblies, and quality control programs to specifications. They will Inspect and may perform minor rework on defective or malfunctioning units or systems. Inspectors ensure raw materials, in-process, and finished products meet drawing specifications and test standards.

Essential Functions:

• Reads and understands manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications and part lists (BOM) to approve or reject units, test setups, or systems for in process or final assemblies.
• Reads and understands specifications and inspection criteria and applies criteria using appropriate and properly configured inspection tools.
• Perform thorough examination to all machined parts, components, assemblies, and materials to ensure appropriate compliance to manufacturers’ documentation (DWG/BOM), and ascertains product conformity, condition, or serviceability.
• Responsible for accurately recording inspection results and maintaining good documentation practices.
• Writes, tracks, and processes hardware related defects or non-conformance reports.
• Identifies problems, and proposes resolutions that are timely, cost-effective, and meet quality requirements.
• Responsible for maintaining communication with Quality Engineer, Quality Manager, and Program Engineers and Technicians, to effectively support production objectives and proactively address concerns or limitations.
• Schedules and routes instruments and other equipment or tools requiring calibration to calibration laboratory or vendor to ensure proper performance, accuracy, and reliability.
• Perform all electrical/electronic inspections to IPC-A-610/620 or mechanical inspections to released drawings, procedures, and specifications.
• Ensure compliance to required ESD manufacturing environments.

Qualifications:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
• Eligible to obtain US Government Security Clearance and retain clearance while employed by L3Harris.
• Fully proficient, self-sufficient individual contributor.
• Applies proficient computer skills in the use of Microsoft Office and database applications.
• Proven knowledge and ability to conduct and interpret inspection criteria, data, and results.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document information completely and accurately.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to achieve operational targets within job area to positively impact the overall results for the team. Work is of moderate scope, typically on larger, task-related activities.
• Ability to communicate effectively, as they may interface with customer quality representatives, suppliers, and engineers.
• Develops or assists in developing methods and procedures necessary for inspection.
• Experience with RCCAs, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $40,000 - $48,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
