The DevOps Engineer's role is to understand the software development lifecycle of products and to bring efficiency to these processes through automation, and collaboration with other departments.
What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Study health of software pipelines and design interventions where anti-patterns or cumbersome processes are detected
- Institute reliable and automatic mechanisms for accelerating software deliveries, generally embracing continuous integration and continuous delivery strategies
- Develop insights into the metrics that drive software development lifecycle outcomes and work to capture and exploit them with help from engineering leads
- Increase development team productivity through elimination of error-prone manual integration, test and deployment steps wherever possible
- Work with the software foundations and quality assurance teams to define and evolve a software development ecosystem focused on continuous improvement
- Work with business unit IT team to understand resource demand and ensure adequate capacity and high availability of services that underpin automation
What you’ll bring
The role of DevOps Engineer requires the following experience and skills:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in software engineering, computer science or related field
- Substantial experience developing software or automating software processes
- Knowledge of high-level programming languages and mechanics, with preference for experience with Python
- Experience with containerization technologies, e.g. Docker or similar
- First-hand experience with mobile device, Windows, embedded or web application development
- Experience with git and associated workflows in a production environment
- Experience with a continuous integration and delivery platform such as Bamboo, Jenkins, Gitlab, etc
- Knowledge and practical experience with agile software development methodologies
- First-hand experience with strategies for accelerating software delivery timelines and increasing reliability including continuous integration, continuous delivery and/or DevOps practices
- Knowledge of unit or component testing frameworks
