We develop the most advanced optical systems for global defense and military markets, Homeland Security, Search and Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies worldwide. These systems provide stabilized, high-magnification Electro-optic and Infrared (EO/IR) laser, surveillance and targeting systems for airborne, marine and ground based platforms.

Program Management at a Glance

Program Managers at L3Harris WESCAM focus primarily on Military and Defence related initiatives and enjoy high-visibility within the organization, and with our customers. They act as the pivot between each customer and the organization – translating their mission requirements and technical specifications levels to our Engineering Teams so that we can effectively plan for delivering the appropriate system on time and within budget -  and one that meets quality expectations as per our contractual obligations.
It’s a role that calls for global travel, occasionally to geo-politcally sensitive areas of the world. It’s not a typical Program Management role as you’d find in other organizations – the stakes are very high with our military and defense customers, and our expectations for our team are equal to that.

Domain Expertise We Look For
Expectations on this team are high – for good reason. Program Management is at the core of what we do at L3Harris WESCAM – it’s what enables our Engineering teams and our military and defense customers to see eye-to-eye on the execution of the entire program. The depth of subject matter expertise varies depending on the type of program we’re managing with our customers – but if your areas of specialization fit into any of the following, you should consider joining our Talent Community:
  • Electromechanical systems, optics, aerospace products or similar technologies
  • Domestic / Foreign Military programs
  • Commercial or Military systems integration
  • Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Proposal creation, program launch, and award negotiation.
  • Experience operating under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) regulations would be a considerable advantage
Academic Backgrounds We Look For
The majority of our team have post-secondary accreditation in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering technology, complimented by a PMP and/or a P.Eng designation.  An MBA has been as a major differentiator for our customers and us.
We’ve found that having these combinations of backgrounds and accreditations allows our team to successfully navigate and solve the many complexities that we are engaged to find solutions for with our military and government customers. 
Skills, Experiences and Competencies We Look For
While this list is in no particular order -  if you are able to identify some of the following within your own inventory of skills and experiences, we would be thrilled if you joined others like you in our Program Management talent community.
  • Between 5 and 10 years of Project/Programs Management responsibility, including successfully leading multiple complex projects
  • PMP and/or P.Eng designation in good standing
  • Adeptness at performing risk management and mitigation activities pro-actively – including program risk reserves. This typically includes setting and continually managing project expectations with customers, team members and stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Critical thinking and resourceful problem-solving skills.
  • Someone who is energized, rather than overwhelmed, by a fast-paced environment.
  • An articulate communicator with well-developed written, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership ability.  Someone who knows that successful program execution requires a true team effort, a sense of urgency, and who can convey and cascade that to every member of the team.
  • Canadian citizenship is required.
  • An active, or the eligibility to obtain, NATO-SECRET security clearance.
