Essential Functions:

Provide thought leadership and substantive technical expertise as a Solutions Architect to the Secure Space Program Portfolio within the Cyber Business area. The incumbent will be required to possess advanced business knowledge and leadership capabilities to provide support for project activities from inception through long-term engagements. They will also be responsible for communicating with senior engineering leaders in the industry and inside the company to build strategic partnerships and influence new and emerging concepts, standards and practices. Additionally, they will make recommendations to the Secure Space Portfolio Business Director on strategies and operational goals to drive achievement and foster success.

Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate will be a self-starter and individual contributor working with minimal guidance or direction to create long-term engineering vision of the portfolio and ensure strategic objectives are achieved. The incumbent has the ability to influence senior leadership regarding matters of strategic importance to the function or organization and is recognized in the industry as a leader. They are responsible for establishing the direction for new processes, systems, solutions, and products using significant conceptualization, reason, and interpretation. Solutions are innovative and often define best practice for the future. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are regularly complex, requiring broad-based consideration of variables that impact multiple areas of the organization and customer systems. Extensively analyzes implications of both near and long-term implications of solutions.

The candidate will own and develop tactical and operational plans and goals for Secure Space Portfolio in conjunction with the Chief Engineer and Portfolio Director. The incumbent will also provide analysis and guidance support during proposal activities to include project cost estimation, proposal materials generation and help prepare sales/proposal presentations. They will also assist in identification and development of business capture processes for new business; definition and identification of emerging business requirements; partnering with other functional area leaders to assess needs and requirements for future systems; work directly with engineering solutions architects to develop capture strategies and standards; assist in proposal work and execution; and provide subject matter expertise to manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance. The position requires experience in the areas of Space Communications, Multi-domain Architectures, Tactical/Military Cybersecurity, Cryptographic Information Assurance and Key Management technology, Space Cybersecurity, and emerging technologies (e.g. 5G, AI/ML, etc.). The position requires background in cryptographic systems, key management, system-of-systems architectures, multi-domain warfare technologies, cybersecurity, and software defined networks in the Top Secret and Below (TSAB) domains. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience of the various DoD platforms, weapon systems, and installations on which the aforementioned systems and capabilities are implemented.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in leading multi-functional, matrixed engineering teams on large pursuit programs.
  • Experience in the pursuit and capture process of DoD programs including positioning for and winning business that have a TPV of $30M+.
  • A strong network of contacts within the Air Force, DoD and Defense Industrial Base.
  • Managing and preparing quality proposals.
  • An understanding of the Air Force, DoD and Intelligence Community acquisition process.
  • Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management.
  • Direct experience in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity as well as an understanding of Multi-Level Security (MLS) systems.

Desired:

  • Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Active Secret clearance is required
  • US Citizenship and active Secret clearance required
  • Prior military experience is a plus.
  • CISSP certification desired

Travel:

  • Travel estimated to be 10-20% per year.
