Job Description:

At L3Harris Commercial Training System we develop the hardware and software that build simulators for commercial pilot training. For the software integration engineer role, you will interact with the hardware and software that creates and supports the simulation.

  • Responsible for research, design, and development of computer software systems, in conjunction with hardware product development. Primarily responsible for the design and development of software products for a variety of software applications related to the commercial aviation simulators.
  • Participates in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and testing of software and hardware products.
  • Works closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system. Develops software test procedures, software programs, and related documentation.
  • Contributes to determining, estimating, and validating the cost and scope of software efforts to ensure software performed meets program cost, schedule, and technical constraints.
  • Responsible for the firmware, communication and integration with the Windows based simulator using a variety of IO interfaces.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and with 2-10 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within hardware development. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Works under moderate supervision. Works independently on larger, moderately complex projects or assignments. Sets objectives for own job area to meet the goals of projects and assignments.
  • Designs, develops, codes and documents applications following specifications using the appropriate tools.
  • Works to achieve operational targets within job area with some impact on department results. Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
  • Expected to propose solutions to problems for others review.
  • May provide guidance and assistance to entry-level professionals and/or support level employees.
  • Communicates with contacts within and outside of own team which may include customers or vendors. Explains and interprets operational processes, practices and procedures of the job area to others within the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with 2 or more years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of C++/C.
  • Experience with Visual Studio or comparable Integrated Development Environment.
  • Experience with Subversion, Git or comparable source control software.
  • Development knowledge with networking using TCP and UDP.
  • Able to work well with teams and individuals at all levels.
  • Motivated and desired to build on technical skills and knowledge.
  • Strong desire to deliver excellent customer service and maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication, time management skills, able to prioritize tasks.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of Python.
  • Experience in aviation industry.
  • Experience in hardware software integration.
