Job Description:

The FSE will be responsible for providing world class support to all L3Harris Commercial Avionics Solutions (CAS) products and their associated customers. The prime role will be to support L3Harris Commercial Training Systems product range of Pilot training devices ranging from Full Flight Simulators to Flat panel training devices. Our Global customer base provides an exciting platform to engage with all cultures and interaction with technicians to senior management, for which you will need to be capable of travelling across the globe and potentially be located at the customer site for prolong periods. Whilst not on assignment you will be based in Burnsville and will perform duties associated with the assembly / test and validation of products.

As a key member of the FSE team within the Customer Excellence organization you will be required to deal with a wide variety of support items/issues to ensure customer satisfaction.

This position will report into the Burnsville Head of Technical Support.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • To act as the on-site customer point of contact post “Ready for Training” ( RFT ) and to be actively involved with all levels of customer management and technical / logistics support. Support and advise the customer’s maintenance teams in all aspects regarding the maintenance and lifecycle support of the equipment.
  • Whilst not on assignment will be required to perform duties associated with the assembly / test and validation of products as part of the device approval process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • To provide ‘Advise and Assist’ in all areas of the maintenance and support of the simulator to ensure maximum available training time is achieved including:
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of issues
  • Perform / support scheduled simulator maintenance routines
  • Diagnose and repair of simulator hardware faults
  • System set up
  • Assistance with annual re-certification activities
  • Perform functions relative to maintaining Aircraft and Simulator software
  • Spares management
  • Act as a focal contact between L-3 Customer Services and the customer with respect to Horizon Tickets and other related issues to ensure high level of Customer satisfaction
  • Respond to customer emergency call outs in an expeditious manner out of normal working hours throughout the contract period
  • Provide On the Job Training to potentially inexperienced customer personnel
  • Actively monitor and record Usage, Reliability and Maintainability and provide monthly reports
  • Assist with the clearance of Acceptance Discrepancies post RFT by actively interfacing with the appropriate Customer Support Account and Programme Manager
  • Maintenance of the Simulator Software Configuration Management System
  • Interface with design departments with respect to any investigation required for possible product improvements and solutions to outstanding issues
  • Implementing software changes, as provided by subject matter experts by updating the source code, compiling the programme(s), building a new software load and then testing the new software load that has been produced
  • Liaise with the Customer Support Account Manager and Sales and Marketing for feedback of meaningful market information
  • On L-3 maintained sites undertake duties as any member of the maintenance team providing a turnkey operation
  • Willing to work in-house at Burnsville, MN location between site contracts. Such work to be within Technical Support section of Customer Services, or within Hardware Production, Commissioning, Test and Integration dept. Potential short notice trips to remote sites.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills & Experience:

  • Five years plus in same or similar industry
  • Broad working knowledge of Simulation, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Avionics and Software systems
  • High level of proficiency with understanding mechanical and electrical assemblies and possessing the capabilities associated with the rectification of such parts therefore possessing strong troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of software operating systems to be able to install and perform software updates, build and test software loads
  • Able to conduct On-Job-Training sessions to customers whilst being sensitive to differing cultures, ethnic backgrounds and customers whose English is their second language
  • Demonstrates the ability to coordinate and track corrective action plans, and be able to deal effectively within and across functions and various disciplines to assure optimum supportability
  • Demonstrates initiative which will allow self-managed work scheduling, leadership, and communication skills to represent L3HARRIS toward the customer.
  • Strong problem solving and leadership skills to ensure cooperation and participation across functions in order to effectively address technical issues for the customer.
  • Strong business acumen; understands business implications of decisions; displays orientation to customer satisfaction
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment; displays willingness to make decisions; adapts to changing conditions; supports and explains reasoning for decisions; includes appropriate people in decision-making process; makes timely decisions.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively at the appropriate levels within the Customer organization as well as with subordinates, peers and supervisors. Capable of making effective presentations to articulate ideas to the intended audience.

  • A totally flexible approach as worldwide travel, possibly to remote locations, is often necessary and sometimes at short notice
