Essential Responsibilities 
  • Collaborate with the Procurement, Planning, and Sales & Marketing departments

    • Meet with departments regularly to determine what financial information and analysis would be beneficial to improve inventory flow

    • Work with department managers to ensure operating departments understand the financial implications of their decisions

    • Work with departments to reduce Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) by thinking of out of the box solutions and help hold the departments accountable for DIO targets

    • Analyze how the monthly overhead absorption rates are impacted by actual and forecast changes

  • Identify the root cause and recommend a solution to address unusual inventory balances and/ or transactions through an understand the ERP LN system flow of Inventory Costs (Material, Labour and Burden)

  • Lead the year-end standard cost update process

  • Analyze standard cost variances, then recommend and implement improvements to address the root cause

  • Prepare and present inventory information to business partners and leaders within WESCAM

  • Lead the creation of a robust inventory forecast model with inputs from various areas of the business

  • Lead continuous improvement projects that will streamline work and reduce waste

  • Assist with preparation of Inventory Counts and the reconciliation to GL

  • A key participant in projects to improve system processes related to flow of inventory costs

  • Ad hoc tasks and projects assigned by the Manager

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

  • CPA/CA/CMA/CGA or equivalent

  • Experience with job costing, standard costing, BOM structures (multi-layer BOMs), manufacturing process flows and supply chain

  • Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to extract and manipulate data from multiple systems/sources and databases

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong time management and organizational skills

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team

  • Easily adapts to new software or processes and has a focus on continuous improvement

  • Experience with SQL

  • Advanced Excel (ie. Advanced Pivot Tables Knowledge) and Powerpoint skills

  • Attention to detail

 
 

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Knowledge of ERP LN would be an advantage
